| Junior Member | RAM and the benchmark
Alright, so my specs are like this: Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Processor 512 MB RAM (it is now 1024 MB) GeForce 6800 GT Before I installed my new 512 MB RAM, I had two 256 MB sticks of RAM. I scored about 4300-4500 on the benchmark 3. I install my stick of 512 to increase my RAM to 1024 and I score a little over 4100. What could this mean? I swear it looks like it runs smoother but maybe I'm just searching for something good. Anyways, could it be that the RAM is taking up more power thus allowing less power the the GFX card or something (I have the bare minimum required for the 6800). Could it be that the RAM isn't very good? Anyone have any ideas?

It could be that the new RAM is slower, thus slowing down all the RAM in the computer. Sicne RAM has to work at the same speed, and they always works at the slowest speed if you have different memory banks. Or just a coincidence 8) |

drop the RAM u have. if ure gonna be using more than one slot get a set of 512MBx2 dual channel it will run the fastest. and yes if the 512MB stick u bought runs at a lower frequency than ure 256MB sticks it slows down all the RAM
