I don't use a gamepad because it doesn't work with the windower.

My Mood: | I use my PC to play FFXl, and have just recently ordered a gamepad to play, too. "Air Flo XL Controller - Nyko". (similar to yours) I also have an adapter lying around somewhere, so I'm just hoping that things will go smoothly when I get set up with it e.t.c. My brother (also a computer addict, like me) told me that the original ones were more reliable for some reason, but I went against his word, and decided to buy a new, and fancy one, so I'm going to see how things turn out, here. |

And if you're not even in the game window you can still use the controller to do things in game.

I've been using a Saitek P880 Dual Analog Pad for a little over a year now, and I've had no squabbles with it. Cost around 20 dollars or so, but it's the longest I've had a PC gamepad without it crapping out on me.

Believe it or not but I have a Nyko Air Flo PC Game Pad for over 6 months and it still works fine. I have abuse this thing too. Not only that but it has fallen on rug and tile floors over 50 times (didn't count just a realistic estimate) and still works. Only thing I have worn the left analog a bit since I use that to move but still good^^

My husband, son, and I all use the Logitech Netplay Controller/Keyboard for both the PC and PS2 versions. I wouldn't use anything else after using this. When I beta tested the PS2 version I used the controller and a usb keyboard. Then one day I was sitting there thinking how nice it would be to have a all in one unit. Then I remembered from back in me EQOA days I had the Netplay. So I dug it out and never looked back. My son stayed with a controller and keyboard for his PS2 beta test but when my husband got his PC beta kit we bought him a Netplay. When retail came out and we all got the PC versions, we picked up another Netplay for my son. My son is a huge PC MMO player (CS, AA, etc. ) and he prefers his Netplay to using the keyboard for FFXI anyday. I have to agree.

Like some of the others, I suggest the PS controller > USB Adaptor. Heck, a PSone controller works just as well as a PS2 one (as far as I know)... only less expensive. =p Get both for ~$20, and as far as I know, these things don't break much at all. Or, at all. A good gaming investment if I've ever seen one. Haven't played FFXI till you play it with a joystick. It's so much better... also, you have an advantage in alliances because you can select people much, much easier (scroll up using the D-pad). =) |
