| Member Bronze Ribbon of Service | program to save spell order?
I was wondering if there was a program that could save your spell order, because I am reformatting again tomorrow and I hate when my spells are out of order ><, and it takes time reodering around 100 spells . So if there is a program to save the order please post a link there ^^.

Hey Siya ^^ I'd say, just like macro's, you'd have to browse through the system files and try to find the one that saves the spell order...I'm just afraid that it will probably be programed differentl then macro's, since macro's hold a user input, so it would have to type out the actual input, and spells are most likely stored by a value or variable which may not be obvious to read

Just save your whole directory and put it back after you have reinstalled and patched. That way you keep all of your macros, spell orders, ah orders, and map markers. The directory is located in: C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER by default. there should be a few directories underneath this, for me they all begin with a 'b', anyway, there is one directory for each character that has ever logged in on that computer. You can wade through and try to figure out which is which, or just copy them all. All 4 of mine are less than 500k, not worth figuring out which to keep. |

In the USER directory your macros are saved as mcr.dat and possible the other mcr file aswell. mcr1...mcr9 are used for the different macro palettes. But you might be better off just saving the whole directory as Mithrael suggested so you also get the map markers (.mrk files) and whatever the rest are.

just want to add that you should first install and log in without copying your pre-existing USER folder. on a fresh install of ffxi, the USER folder is empty. once you log in it will create a new one, overwriting the one you copied in there (your original). not that this is a bad thing, but you'll have to log back out and copy it in there again anyway. so - install, log in (all your characters, if you have more than 1) and log out. copy USER folder back to your install dir and you should be done. |
