Ok heres the deal:
My brother just bot ffxi and i decided its cool and i want to be able to play with him at the same time using my own guy. We both live in the same house and both have our own computers.)

This is the first mmorpg for either of us and so dont know how it the account stuff works exactly.

Will i be able to get an additional character for $1.00 per month and be able to play online at the same time as him or do i have to also buy a whole new play online account to play?

Also will i have to buy another copy of the game?

You need to buy two copies of the game.

You could buy just one, and have both characters on that account, but you can only log in one at a time.

Also, once you make a character on one account, you cannot transfer it to any other accounts.

Is it possible for my brother to make a seccond account and then i can login as a guest on my computer?

golden rule:

if you both want to play at the same time, you need 2 copies of the game.

that means you have to pay ~$50 for the game and another ~$13/month.
