Actualy it doesn't matter, it happens to a lot of games but FFXI has a huge player base. Everything that is new = fun at the beginning, it's actualy good that some are freeing up space ^^ besides that, what is your definition of "a lot" ? |

since some MMORPGs sustain themselves on a player base of less than 5000 people(EVE online). I don't think FFXI is in any danger since they have about that many on each server.

Lineage 2? I got accepted into closed beta a bit before the open beta. Closed beta was better compared to open. The first few days of open beta, the servers (there were 3 at the time) were much too overcrowded. Every time you stepped into a town, you'd get bombarded with major lag and find it difficult to move. Even outside the town, at areas where you level, the lag was pretty bad, and with everyone leveling on just a few monsters (Spore Quest, need 10 fungus sacs, gives you 2000a, nice source of money), it was fairly hard to level. Aside from this, the graphics are alright, but your character seems sort of bland, not changing after putting different pieces of equipment on, and the monsters looked very similar. The engine was alright, not as good as FFXI's in my opinion, but was still fairly original. You gained SP (or something like that) for each monster you fought, and you'd use this to purchase skills, which was pretty nice. (gotta go, damn classes)

Yes it is true... it will always be true. Many people left other games to play FFXI.. many will leave FFXI to play other games. FFXI will be around for a long time.. it has a huge fan base.. and as long as they are adding new content there will be people here to play it.

the newer ones don't seem to be overcrowded or a lagfest. | |

I tried it for about 2 hours, I didnt like it to be honest. Ima stick to FFXI, I might try WoW if they have some kind of open beta but I have never been a fan of WC so Im sure I will skip that. Trusty

For some reason... Lineage II's Orc Fighter reminds me a bit of the Galka...

Lineage II was ok, just I absolutly hate being stuck to conform to one job and if later down the line if you get bored with it you have to make another character then. Can't just switch, and then the equipment is so specifically designed to being warrior or mage type that you can't really mesh your old gear to have a decent setup. You end up having to do it all over again. Definatly great eye candy with the clothing selections you can get, been a while since I saw it again but last time I remembered it has some serious issues with control of your character on the boat and not to mention like 6 areas with invisible walls you end up running into as well as an area that seems to of been some planed setup that was removed or something and the programmers didn't get all of it. It was fun at first, but a few months after it kind of just blaned out and wasn't as intresting. FFXI I think is much better, love being able to just change my job on a whim and back on the same character. That's the best because then even with new players the only thing they have to seriously think about and plan in-depth with is just what race they want really. The rest they can figure out some time latter in the game. |

Now you all are right with people leaving games for games, but I got to say that FFXI is a great one here. There are doing a great job updating and keeping people happy. The game does have some down falls and Im sure Square will fix that. Then again what game doesnt have soom down falls! Now WoW and EQ2 is going to hurt FFXI but I think FFXI will last as long time around then. Im going to try WoW but Im keeping my FFXI account too.
