| Junior Member | Can I save my macros and POL settings?
I want to format my computer, but I don't want to have to go through the trouble of setting all my macros up again and my POL profile and crap. Is there anyway I can save them or back them up? Then put em back on after I format? /sigh Hope it made sense. |

Thats a good question. I reformat frequently, so that will probably be a problem for me. After a quick scan of the folders, i think the folder that saves macros and stuff is the "C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER" folder, but im not totally sure. Hopefully someone can help us out on this, as i have all my macros just the way i want them.

copy all the folders in that user folder he mentioned, burn it to a disc, then put the back in there after you reformat. thats where the macros are kept.

I think backing up your macros, and user info is a great idea, even if you're not reformating your hard drive. The other day I lost my internet connection while in game and when i logged back in, all my Macros were deleted. So I'd recommend for everyone to do this if they can.

Slightly off topic, is there a decent external editor available for editing macros? I don't think this would break the EULA. I find the macro edit interface slightly lacking in functionality. And I'd like to make a few sets of macros for different situations. But the idea of typing the same macro 6 times (/ma "Cure" <t>) when a windows environment I could just copy/paste...
