I perfer StarvingArtists renkei chart. It's very simple for stupid people like me. However, it went offline when the forums went down awhile ago and I don't know of (s)he put it back up. |

I never noticed before, but Great Sword's "Ground Strike" is a very interesting WS in that it can produce either Light or Dark level 3 renkei (1st attribute is Fragmentation, 2nd attribute is Distortion). None of the other weapons' skills have two level 2 attributes to them.

That's why a lot of DRKs are leveling Greatsword now. Ground Strike can participate in Light skillchain which is preferred against some enemies (especially undead). Anyway, the chart referenced in the original post is great - I keep something like that, but didn't have accurate info on the properties of some high level weaponskills. I'm less of a fan of the charts that list WS in each box - it's hard to see what other attributes a WS has which can lead to some problems (like trying to close Distortion with Nightmare Scythe or Spinning Scythe, both of which are in the right box but won't work because their *other* attribute is somewhere else.) Also, those charts usually don't effectively show how you can create a level 2 SC effect with level 1 weaponskills, then follow it with level 2 weaponskills to create level 2 or 3 skillchains. Example: Double Thrust (Transfixion) -> Viper Bite (Scission), SC: Distortion, -> Swift Blade (Gravitation), SC: Darkness. While we're on the subject, though, I have a question: does anyone know how resistance is calculated for skillchains with more than one element? For example, crabs are weak to ice but highly resistant to water. So how is it calculated whether or not they resist Distortion (which is ice AND water)?

Imo, the skillchain chart posted in this topic is hands down the best one out there. There are a few attribute errors as well as spelling errors. The most accurate chart to date, I believe is still Adennak's, but personally, I find it hard to read. Anyway, this chart is pretty old and hasn't been updated in awhile. I felt it was too good to be left as is, so I decided to fix some errors: added and changed a few attributes, fixed some of the spelling and added Bloodpacts. I've attached the updated skillchain chart below. If there are any errors, please let me know and I'll make the changes.

If I understand this chart correctly, does the overlap of certain elements indicate an "understood" arrow between them? Like Detonation > Compression = Gravitation, or Liquefaction > Impaction = Fusion, etc?

Yeah, I tried each of those Charts. The easiest for me still is the simple little thing SE gives you, which is in the link Shamaru put up. Then it's only a matter of knowing which set of LV2 renkei's makes Light and Dark and which set of LV2 renkei's make another LV2 renkei. |

The thing that confuses me about that one from SE, is what is the difference between a circle and a double circle? Also, in the one from the original post, it's not obvious (to me anyway) what happens when I do Impaction > Liquefaction (e.g. Shield Break > Flaming Arrow) Would it make Scission or Fusion? Another example is Induration > Compression (e.g. Raging Rush > Nightmare Scythe). Would this be Transfixion or Detonation?

double circle is LVL 2 Skillchain impaction -> liquefaction would give you liquefaction and induration > compression would give you compression. |

That's why then it's just a matter of knowing which two LV2 Skillchains make Light and Dark. Other then that figuring out what LV2 skillchains make another LV2 skillchain is easy. It's just like the LV1 skillchains. Gravitation -> Fusion makes Fusion Distortion -> Fusion makes Fusion Fusion -> Gravitation makes Gravitation Fusion -> Distortion makes Distortion and so on. So at this point all you have to remember is: Fusion -> Fragmentation makes Light Gravitation -> Distortion makes Dark The easiest way to remember this is just look at your Equipment Menu. The list that shows the elements: Top Row (Fire, Wind, Thunder, Light) same as LV3 Renkei Light Bottom Row (Ice, Water, Earth, Dark) same as LV3 Renkei Dark | |
