I think square should implement an "examine" confirmation button in this game...

For example, if someone wanted to examine your equipment, a menu would pop up on your screen sort of the same way a raise confirmation pops us. It would read:

So-and-so would like to examine your equipment:
Yes
No

What do you guys think?

People make such a big deal about this. I don't understand it really. It doesn't both me at all, and if you don't like. You can filter it out.

I think you should do this:

Game Options -> Chat Filters -> Check: On

Checking is a valid action in the game. I never use it, but most will. Best to just filter them out if they bother you.

I dunno... it's just that some people are secretive about the gear they wear, like my friend hates when people examine him and he changes gear so it cancels out the examine.

Then your friend is a moron. I mean, come on, its a game, and if you can't handle turning off the message, or even seeing it, you really need some help. Its a horrible idea, I don't want to have a message pop up every 30 seconds while I'm trying to do something. It'd be as bad as the internet.

Triple post anyone? lol, But nah, I played everquest for a short time with my friends account, and all the rp'ers and some high level stuck up people absolutly hated you checking them out, they would actually confront you and spam you to death about this and that, and how your not entitled to look at them and blah.... I say it's a game, we're looking at animated pixels that someone has drawn, you don't pay the $13 dollars a month to own these things, you pay it to play the game.... So in closing they should get a life, turn on the filter.

reasons i can think of why someone wouldn't want to be examined:

1) latent insecurity issues.

2) they don't want you to know they are gimped on gear when lfg.

Almost invited a noob WAR to my group today in the dunes, until i examined him and saw that what i thought was a Legionnaires armor set was really a bronze armor set. I can't help but think how unpleasant it would have been if the only way i could tell he was gimped was when our whm ran out of mp faster than normal after we had started xping. Being able to examine people prevents this.

only time I check a person is to see what lvl they are, they should(maybe they do, I dont know) have an filter option where people can just look at your lvl, that way you won't be getting messages as to who is examing you.

And yes pressing confirm all the time will be hassle.

if you want to find out what lvl people are, just do a name search on them, and you can easily tell what lvl and job combo they are...

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

So your solution to a "problem" which only causes 1 extra line in the chat window, is to create a message which makes the character stop what they're doing and decide whether or not they want someone to check them? So what was once a harmless and usually ignored passive activity should be turned into a troublesome active activity?

/em bursts out laughing beside Dtec

Classic.

I have no clue why people don't like to be examined, like already said, you can just filter it out. If you don't like it, filter it. But, if they don't want to be examined, don't examine them, you don't need to see their level/what they use that bad. I only examine if its a friend i know, they have bazaar up, or they examined me first. I actually like to be examined, makes me feel special
