I made a char on my bro's comp, I just installed ffxi on my comp. Am I able to play the char I made on his comp on my comp now?

no. a CD key can only use for one comp in a time. unless you got two CD key

But isn't the CD key just for installation purposes only?? Can't he just type in the login name and pass of the char he created on the other comp and play as that char?

We have been getting this error message after doing this part of step 18, so we should find out if two computers on one POL account is allowed once we get a translation.

I have a similar question. Let's say I want to reformat my hard drive. What steps do I have to go through to get it all installed again, but use my current account?

Okay.

A) A FFXI key is associated with a PlayOnline key. Once you make that association, it's set.

B) A playonline account can only be used by 1 person at a time. Hence, in order for 2 people to play FFXI at the same time, they will need seperate POL and FFXI keys.

C) You can log in a different Playonline and associated FFXI ID on a system, but that POL/FFXI key can not be in use elsewhere.

You can play a character you created on a different computer on your own computer, assuming he is not using that POL account. You will have to log in as that POL account.

I am not certain which steps are needed to change the default account POL was set up with, my japanese skills aren't up to the task. However, it's a simple matter to log in as a guest on that system and manually input a different POL login.

Ya, I think that would be right. You could install your cd on any computers you wanted, but only one at a time could play (if they were using the same account on PlayOnline.) Thats how it is like on other MMORPGS games.
