I do not have a visa or mastercard, and it seems that is the only thing that playonline will accept, i was thinking of perhaps getting a prepaid card but i do not know if that will be accepted, does anyone know?

American players can only pay through credit card right now. It hasn't been said whether or not they'll begin accepting pre-paid cards. Sorry!

i think he means pre paid CC's, and i'm pretty sure they work with FFXI, debit cards work too (but they gotta have a visa or mastercard logo on them)

You could use Paypal(which acts as a virtual mastercard). You only need a credit card once in the setup process as a confirmation to validate your account(never bills your credit card, I've done this). Once validated with a credit card, you also have to validate your bank account information(plug in acount #, Paypal will deposit 2 small amounts of change, go to bank, look up those amounts, report back to Paypal what they are, and your account is verified). Paypal "uploads" money from an existing checking account, whenever you want it to (usually takes 3-4 days for the transfer TO or FROM the account.) Once the money's in there look around the site for 'shops' (believe it's at the bottom) and then choose 'Shop Anywhere' to configure the virtual credit card(very simple process). Now I haven't used Paypal to play online games, but it virtually acts in affiliation with Mastercard, so I'd assume PlayOnline would consider it valid. Anyway, if you opt to use this payment method, good luck.

for na release ffxi, the only accepted payment methods r visa or mastercard. but that doesn't mean u have to have a credit card; it can be a debit or prepaid card as long as they have a visa/mastercard logo.

i was paying w/ a prepaid visa for the first couple of months, so i know it works.

I'm also wondering about this too. I bought the US import from an Ebay seller (shop) and I should get it either tomorrow or tuesday.
I need to use my mums debit card that has a visa logo on it. I used this in Planetside too.
I do have a PayPal account, which is using my bank accounts debit card, which is a switch, although this is only in the UK, and I dont think I can use switch.
Can someone tell me how I can buy a prepaid visa card?
