Can anyone explain to be what the difference is with items that have "Latent Effects:"? Is it just like an effect that only works at random times or something? :confused:

I think latent effect means that you'll only get that specific bonus when your hp is yellow or under, not sure though o_O

In beta I was fortunate enough to acquire a Latent effect BCNM Ring to test it.

The Stats were:
Level 50, WHM only, Latent Effect:Cure+10%.

Latent effect means it will only work when the HP is in yellow or red state, so critical, consequently these items tend to suck.

On my level 55 Whm when I am in critical I do not want my Cure III to go from 190 to 209 because that means I get even more hate if in a PT therefore getting making it more likely I get attacked again and die. I mostly wore this Ring as a novelty.

If you want to know how this ring would affect a WHM then just cast curative spells on Lightsday, that has a +10% boost too.

i bought the pld50 ring a while ago 'coz it's so cheap compre to beta price lol. i have yet to test it but i don't expect the latent effect will kick-in that often.
just a ring for me to wear b4 i can afford phalanx rings ;_;

the price of that stupid ring went from 45k>90k in few weeks.. sigh.

Latent effect works when your HP is lower than 70% and TP below 100%.

It's a lot simplier than you thought...

i saw some great armor. it has it own defense as latent effect.

example: armor def 46 and latent effect def + 46

so does that mean if i have a set of this armor its defense is doubled if the hp gets under 70%?

that would be awesome to every class that can wear it!
i dont remember its name right, but it was like "carapace"

oh and is it right that those lvl 70 rings for specific jobs are sold for 1k each in ah???

Yea I just saw someone wearing that today, It was 44def latent effect: 44def 13 atk or something like that, must be a new item set..

I'm pretty sure those Nemesis earrings have +enmity. They drop in BCNM battles I think.

hrm. i just got teh carapace helm and bod to test.. the effects of the helm dont' kick in till you're orange.. and i've yet to hit red for the body -_-;; overall i'm not satisfied with it.
