Sorry if this has been posted already but how come lots of FFXI is still in English because of all the screenshots ive seen. Because the Japanese players won't be able to read that can they?

i guess you mean the messeges in chat log window? That is just a chat log. Foreigners+importers talk to each other in english.

The messege from NPC and other thing else in game will all be in japanese.

I think Bry is reffering to the fact that the maps, char titles on char selection etc are in English.

Guess Japanese just like English lol

They're staying true to form...

a lot of things are MUCH easier to represent in English than in any kana...
also, to jp people who don't understand much english, it gives the game a non-domesticated feel.

Online RPGs like Nobunga's Ambition are 100% in Japanese, but that game is truly meant for the hardcore jp history buffs.

Actually most japanese are required to take English class in high school. This doesnt mean that every japanese person can read and write english, much less speak, but at least 80% have been exposed to enough english to recognise a few words. Think of this as a forign language class in american high schools, except that it is required not optional. Most people I talk to don't remember a thing from thier forign language classes. =P JYAN

Trust me when I say you'll need to have a firm grasp of the japanese language to play NA...It's a lot more skill/profession based.

oh i see. i personally think that they make names and graphics and stuff in english so they will have easier time transferring the game into english version.
