Lack of different mob models
Is it just me, or does FFXI have an unusually low number of different mob models? I started out in San d'Oria, fighting rabbits, goblins, and sheep in East and West Ronfaure. Moved on to La Theine, where there are rabbits, goblins, and sheep. Moved to Valkrum Dunes, and found rabbits, goblins, and sheep. Had a look into Jugner Forest, and saw rabbits, goblins, and sheep. You get the picture.

Sure, there are some more than 3 models, but the total amount of them is quite limited. When you move from one zone to the next, you've already seen most of the new mobs, and only get 1 or 2 new ones. I'm a bit disappointed.

You don't really see much after till you break lvl 30 in my opinion. Yea it's mostly true, gobs, rabbits, akbabas, worms. You're life is revolved around those models.

Welcome to the world of MMORPG's!

Most seem to have this problem, and there's not much that will be done about it I'm sure, save for the occasional expansion pack, etc.

Some games have a ton of models. EQ had a wide range of models, but after playing for 2~ years, it basically came down to the same thing...Target mob and kill it.

In the end you'll be doing the same no matter what the model.

Enjoy!

Thank god they are animated well. This is a common problem in MMORPGs for some reason. I cant count how many Bats, Goiblins, and Froglocs I killed in EQ. At least the FF ones are well animated.

bears, snakes, cats, orcs, bees and skeletons
