Question about communciation for the PS2 version

When I played the 7 free day trial of of Everquest I had a BIG problem with the communication. You had to hit a button(I think it was L1)to go into communication mode. That sucks. Also, the communication box took up the WHOLE freaking screen. I have a keyboard too. I would hit the L1 button then start typing on the keyboard. The whole screen was a text box, it sucked.

In FFXI, can you just type whenever?? I will be playing this game with my brother so I will type and he will control the character(good combo). So, do you have to hit a button to type AND when the pop up box comes up, does it take up the WHOLE screen like EQ?? Thanks.

The message box isn't too large. Here's what it looks like at 640x480 resolution. The textbox gets smaller as the resolution gets higher. You can type anytime as well, except during like zone transitions and stuff. Notice how on the top right of the message box the word "Party" is shown. You can set what channel you want to speak in so you don't have to go through the hassle of pressing buttons or writing out commands before typing out the message and stuff, although FFXI does allow you to do that if you prefer to do it that way.

Only if FFXI supports high definition video modes like 720p... Anyone know?

I HIGHLY doubt it will support 720p. In fact, IT WON'T.

So, that pic above, is that the resolution for the PS2?? Is that how big it will be on the Ps2 version on default??
