There is not a best job.All jobs are good at one or many good things. like White Mages are good at healing magic.and Black Mages are good at Black Magic.Ok

It's good but you wont get to Drk till level 30 anyway, so worry more about what your gonna be at the beginning. I highly recommend having a Drk/Monk for more hp.

I'm going to suggest you rethink what you are planning on. First of all, the most effective parties in this game will be the ones that have players with specific roles. That means that there will be some fighters, some black mages, and some healers. Now these fighters, they are going to be dark knights or whatever melee type job as both a main and sub job, most likely. That means that physically, they will for the most part, be stronger and have a better defense then you. The most probable combination for a white mage is a bard or a black mage. This means that they will be much more able to heal then you will, since in the bard case, they will have songs as well as spells. And in the black mage casethey will have a lot more magic.

Something else worth noting is that this battle system is not ATB. This means that it happens in real time. And there would be too much for you to keep track of to be a useful attack and healer. Once again, you can do this how you like, it is your decision. But if you are a useless combination, not asmany people will accept you into their party. And you need to fight with parties in this game.

If there was a Dragoon class then it'd -- okay, I'll shut up about that now. :sweat: I think that the most IMPORTANT job combinations are PLD/WAR, BLM/WHM, WHM/BLM, WAR/MNK, and BRD/anything good for Bard sub :p

paladin. It's a defensive based job with white magic. Similar to holy knight. Check the screenshot forum for pics.

PLD = Paladin

A paladin is basically like a holy knight (opposite of DRK - Dark Knight). Paladin's have strong attacks, high defense, and can do some low level white magic spells. If you played FF4, the main character, Cecil (in my avatar), turned from a Dark Knight to a Paladin . From what it sounds like the job of the paladin in FFXI is the same from FFIV.

The dark knight is similar to the Paladin, but it has stronger attacks, lower defense, and can use some low level black magics.

There are tons more pictures in the Screenshots Archive, take a look there.

EDIT: falloutboy14 posted the description right before I did, oh well, you get two explanations :p
