Hard Drive Has Been In America
Ok...a lot of you are brainless....(some of you.... )....the ps2 hard drive is out..or should i say has been out..its called the linux hdd bundle. It somes with a 50gig hard drive,USB keyboard,USB mouse,(which you wont need),inthernet adapter, and the software. And yes, this hard drive will work with final fantasy XI...although its worth $200!That's not a lot for sum of us, but hey, Here's your chance of getting it!Although the hard drive is not like the jap type. Our(US) hard drive slides straight into the disk bay and connect the inthernet adapter right on the back of it. It's kinda like the oppisite of the jap one. If you are wondering where to order you hard drive...visit www.scea.com Of course...thats the official playstation site is ..so if you wanna get prepared for the release of final fantasy...(gamespot confirms 3/4/03)...then order it.BUT>.here comes the bad news>>..REQUIREMENT:It says sumthin about a computer monitor is requiered...so it comes with the cables..(i think its opitional...if you want to connect ur ps2 to your monitor for better resolution or sumthin....but ur tv is fine..I think?!?! There is a picture under this post of the bundle for the hard drive!Email me at el_playa02@hotmail.com for more info or just aim me SnoopBroD

There probably is a way to reformat it though, does it use IDE connectors or something?

This thing is for programming, and making your own games.
The only way to play the game is to have the whole system on an0ther computer, but it is not designed to play the games, or saves their info.
If someone could tweak it........the woot for them!!!!!!!
'
It is a prettyy cool add on though if that is what ya like to do.
Personally I do not have the patience for it

Please help Fellow Americans Prepare for the USA release at http://www.godsarmy.tk/ THANKS!!!!

I own the linux system. There is no need for you to have a computer monitor though. The only reason you need a computer monitor is to let you see while you are installing linux. If you blindly install with proper instruction (like i did), then there is no need for a computer monitor. All you need is your regular TV.

I remember before I bought the linux system, I called and specifically asked them if the linux HDD can support games like FFXI. They said that it can....I hope they weren't lying

The HDD you get in the Linux Kit is probably very similar, if not the same, as the one we should be getting in stores some time soon. It's not a question of formatting, it's that when you install Linux onto your PS2, it can no longer be used for game files. I'm not sure if you could just get that HDD and use that for games without installing Linux, but why pay $120 more? More and more info seems to be coming out about the HDD these days, so I'd say the retail version should be out by August or so.
