Report: Final Fantasy XI For Windows To See U.S. Release
According to GamePro.com, Square president Yoichi Wada stated that the PC version of their MMORPG Final Fantasy XI, which releases in Japan on November 7th, will be coming to the U.S.
However, no concrete plans were laid for a U.S. release. The game originated on the PlayStation 2; it's been available in Japan since March. FFXI appeared at May's E3 show in L.A. -- on display in Sony's booth -- but no plans were ever announced to bring the game to the U.S. As time passes, the release of the PS2 version seems ever more unlikely.

Not sure if it is true or not. But I figure out one point -- "FFXI appeared at May's E3 show in L.A." . I guess it is most likely that Square would release FFXI in US after E3 show in May. This E3 shows would definitely helps a lot if only it is release after the show.

uh, did you check the date on that one? Probably rather dated news. But, that is a possiblity for the PC version... as the PC version tends to come out later than the PS2 version

that article meant E3 2002. i'd say it'll be released after the Merger. and I do believe it has been confirmed multiple times, as many sources are already posting dates, which they wouldn't do if it wasn't coming out. IGN has FFXI as one of the top ten most wanted, and they only post games which are 100% certain to be released.

It pretty much has been confirmed by Square, they talk about stuff you will need for it on their NA website. Nothing is technically official, though.

I emailed Squaresoft, asking them about the release date for ffxi, and they said they do not have a confirmed release date. They said go to http://www.squaresoft.com and check out "News"

They didnt say anything when i asked them about the HDD

They do plan for a U.S. release for sure

the reason they said nothing about the HDD, is because square is not the affiliated with the creation of the HDD. That's sony

But if you email Sony about anything, you'll just get an automated message

But its crazy to plat EQA without HDD.. i mean even through the beta.. It was crazy.. what if they have to update a big arse patch or something..Mabey sony has somethign up their sleeve.. well at least i hope they do

meh, doesn't matter what sony has up its sleeve, EQOA will suck, and FFXI will kick major ass!!!!!!! btw, how was the beta test for EQOA :spin: (I heard it sucked ass)

i heard more people just plain quit playing than report the bugs.
