keeping characters ...WARNING!

ok, first of all i would like to start with a couple questions. Don't tell me to search cause i have, and i know the answer to them. i just want to know if my answer match up with yours.

1) when the NA version comes out..we will all the mixed in witht he japanese players correct? my answer is yes.

2) The reason why square is not letting beta testers keep your character is because it would not be fair to the other players since they would be noobies and you would be a high level right? the answer again is yes.

............so why is it that its ok for the japanese people to be high levelers when we enter the game. i know its a different country and all, but that is still unfair. I wouldnt mind playing with japanese people at all, its just that they are sort of contradicting themselves by saying beta testers should not keep characters cause it would be unfair to noobies.... If i am wrong with the questions then disregard this, i was just thinking thats all, and if i am wrong i would like to know whats right then, thank you =)

i think you have a good point i think it is a good idea and yet a bad idea: Good idea because ya it give the non-beta tester a chance the find out how the game works and a chance to level up at the same time as others player. BAd idea because ya the beta tester work there @$$ off to level up as much as they did and get all the bad @$$ thing they've found. to be honest i hate to start over once you already did some thing

im ok with the idea of deleting the characters, after all knowledge is power. i got to level 14 in 2.5 days...i got the knowledge it takes to do it again if i have to, but its just does not make sense. I wouldnt say this if we were not going in japanese servers, but i think we are. So how does square answer the unfairness question against NA players ? O.o

well, let me try to explain it a little better. Square is saying it wouldnt be fair to the rest of the people that buy the NA if beta testers get to keep their characters because they would be high levels while everyone else would be low levels. The save goes for the japanese then, it wouldnt be happy for the NA people cause the japanese people would be high levels..does that makes sense? If NA and japanese people will play together in the same server, then that makes no sense on squares part.

thats why i ask those questions first... cause if i am wrong, then i want to know the answer =D i dont mind loosing my character like i said before, but either way it will feel the same to NA people because they will be playin with higher level player either way LOL

I'm almost positive that when NA hits our shores, Square will release a whole set of new servers for both countries but obviously targeted more towards NA players. If this is true, then it diminishes the points you're making. If this happened, JP and EN players would all be populating the server with new characters, not just us.

This isn't official, nor would I know if it is indeed official. However what I do know is, what little my memory is serving me right now and I've definitely heard about this before but don't know where.

yup, and thats what im trying to find out...if what im stating is pointless or if it actually makes people think. You are right, if NA gets their own servers, then all of this has no point :-p

I believe JP and NA players actually will be able to play together on the same servers, but NA users will always automatically start off on one of the designated NA servers and JP users will always automatically start off on the designated JP servers, but they do have the ability to play on either type of server with the aid of a World Shifter (which I don't think are still around) or a World Pass. My main reason for thinking this, besides the fact that an SE representative stated that they have plans to have NA and JP users share servers, is because beta testers can view and join chats formed by the JP players and vice versa. I also think the beta players can add JP players to their Friends List or Contact them. There's also some option in game where you can choose to display whether you can speak English, Japanese, or both when people do a search. I don't know if this is true for the JP servers, but that's how it is on Cactuar.

correct, there is a language " translator" build in the game already. i read somewhere that it will be used to communicate with japanese players. I was not aware that NA will start on their own server and later on having the option to move if one wants to. This would make more sense then =D , thank you the clarification Genrou.

The beta is actually working now on cross linking the NA/JP servers. When I now log into my character I saw that I was listed on the Cactuar server. I do not remember what it was before but it does appear that the last update may have done more then Square has led us to believe. I actually do not mind starting over, I wish Square would actually let me keep one of my characters when we move to the new servers as I am sure if you had X number of each level the server would actually appear more balanced on opening. Granted I know that is not the goal but at least when Rise of Zurrat is released (No it is not in the beta for those who ask) we would be able to do more then just stand around going I am on mission 1 we cant play cause you are on 40.

I dont think that we would be on the same server as the japanese players because 1. The language barrier, they would have to make some on the go translation system or something.
2. It would strain the servers to much to have so many people.
But who knows I might be wrong.
And just some things about player wipes. You agreed to a player wipe when you clicked I agree on the agreement thing

well based on personal opinion, last thursday the 17th, my thoughts on the matter where, "no to keeping charecters" because i wasnt in the beta , and i was jealous *yes yes i admit it* ^^ , and then on Friday the 18th, i got an ATI e-mail that im in, and suddenly , "why shouldnt WE keep OUR charecteres, yeah i know im a hypocrite but thats not the point, well i hope i made some kind of point... i do agree with you though. but still wouldnt you like to go through the whole getting a sub job quest twice
