FWIW, I just got my replacement Disc 3 today. At first I thought that they sent me my old Disc 3 as it still looks like crap and only my old original letter that I sent with the disc was sent back to me. No letter from SE or anything oddly. Good news though is that the disc works perfectly. Fully readable and my drive doesn't have to spin down to read it either.

Looks like they must have realized the problem or done something about it hopefully since the replacement works fine

Detailed info on my replacement:

Sent old disc to PO Info Center on July 11th.
Old disc arrived at PO Info Center on July 14th.
Replacement sent to me via UPS 2nd Day Air on July 17th.
Arrived at my door on July 21st (makes sense as 2nd Day doesn't include weekends).
Oh, and I live in the suburbs of Minneapolis.

When you log in to your PC before the installation did you log in as an administrator ? I think this happend to me and I realize that I didn't log in to my PC as an administrator so I re-install it and no problem afterward.

Ok, I have 2 questions, since my 3rd disc is stuck at 18/40.

1) For the purpose of cleaning it off, would a CD cleaner involving spraying stuff on it then twirling it around in a machine work? as opposed to the toothpaste/sock methods?

If the cleaner doesn't, or can't, work.... could you post the address where you send the disc to? I'll probably have to do that, although I'll use the urgent package or whatever to get it within a few days.

Anyways, to all who've been wondering why they have to send the faulty disc in, it's probably because SE doesn't want an extra disc floating around, which would cause in the possibility of new users with the beta that weren't supposed to have it. They're just looking out for the sanctity of the game, and doing this ensures that only the original person has the disc. Just my observation, but from past experiences like this, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Thanks in advance!

I also have a bad third disc. I received my kit on the 17'th, at about 5:30 from UPS. After trying to install about 3 times on 3 different comps, I finnialy gave up on the disc and scoured boards and play online Q&A. I've been following the disc 3 threads sence then too, I wanted to bump this one because I thought it had the most progress on the subject. On friday the 18'th I called the number which was in my area code and talked to customer care. They told me to e-mail a few files, give them my adress and they would send me the disc. They also told me to send them the disc, but I asked them if sending my disc in a couple days would delay their shipment of my new disc they told me no that they would send my disc tommarow, being saturday. They aslo declined my request to come pick up my disc :sweat: I live about 30 minutes from them I found out.

So I waited patently for my disc to come day and no luck, I didn't want to ask someone to give me data3.cab if the disc came to me that would waste that persons time. I think it should be here within the next few days, but I never heard anything else from them so I am running on hope. Good luck to everyone else.

I had the infamous disc 3 problem as well and were it not for a friend of mine who got into the beta I would have had to wait for PlayOnline to send me a disc as well.

I can only do about 2 downloads @ so perhaps when someone else gets it they could make it available to others.
