play is greyed out
This is my first post here so, hello everybody, i'm lacan from sweden.

i'm having a problem with ffxi, i followed the setup instructions on the site, playonline is working, but "play" on ffxi is greyed out. I have bought a content id. Is there something i have forgotten?

My pc does not meet the requirements for the game (i have a p3 550mhz, but i'm getting a new mobo/cpu/ram in a few days.)
anyways, could it be that ffxi checks my pc, and if its too slow it wont let me play?

Thanks in advance

I think it has to that your computer is little under the requirements.

Have you tried the FFXI benchmark?

900

I guess that you just have to wait for your new hardware to arrive before be able to play FFXI.
I really hope that you get it this week.

I run it just fine with an 866 PIII(the min is an 800 PIII) I mean it slows down from time to time, but its not THAT bad, is there a way to turn off sun glare? cause that would help my frames substantialy. anyways its really all about your graphics card the requirements there are geforce 3 or higher, so it might help to get a nice geforce 4 card.

also to answer your question of it being greyed out, the servers were down just a while ago, so it might be fixed now, try it again.

geforce 4 MX = bad Ti=good
Lacan, make sure you get a Geforce 4 Ti either 4200, 4400, or 4600. the 4200 has good performance for a low price, it is available in a 64 or 128 meg version. the 4600 is a little better, but its a lot more expensive.

anyways don't get an MX they are basically slightly modified geforce 2 chipsets.

I have a 4200 myself and it works great, I noticed a substancial increse in anything video related over my geforce 2, where with the MX its pretty much the same as a geforce 2.

go to pricewatch, you can get a Ti 4200 from like $120, you could always sell your MX to some unsuspecting er I mean someone who thinks its really a geforce 4 heh.
