I was just curious to see if it was possible. I already had to recover my account because I stopped playing and deactivated my account about 6 or so months after buying the game, but I have since moved and lost the instruction manual somewhere...and therefore have lost my CD Key. I'm just wondering if it was possible to recover this as I do have it installed on the Windows 7 RC...aaaand, as most of you know, that's set to expire and therefore I will need to reinstall the game when I get a new OS.

Sounds like an issue for customer service before it expires.

Have as much information as you can available when you call, like your personal info, credit card info, POL ID and password (returning and established players), and possibly your registration codes.

Does FFXI even require a CD key? It's been a while but as I recall the last time I re-installed it the only thing I needed was my PlayOnline ID and password. Your game registration codes and/or expansions are linked to that ID - the software itself shouldn't require any codes at all as I recall.

If you deactivated (and didn't delete) your POL ID, you should be OK I think?

Hm, I will call into the POL Customer Service when I get home and ask them what I need. I know my game came with a CD Key but I didn't know that I just needed my POL ID and password. I'll see about installing it on my laptop (because it doesn't have it installed) and seeing what it does in regards to letting me play (hopefully it'll work, it's Linux) ;p

Ha, a little update:

Had to sit through the 4 hour update, but I was able to login to FF XI, see my characters, but I never installed any of the expansions. the only thing about playing on Linux was the fact that the taskbar and menu bar wouldn't go away while in game, but I was able to actually view my character and try to login. AKA it worked. thanks!
