keybinds, do they exist?

I played ffxi on the playstation for 2 years then bought a nice computer and wasted 4 years on warcraft, just installed the trial edition of ffxi on the computer and am super confused on movement... is it possible to use wasd movement and to not have every key open the chat bar?

Go to Config, in one of the menus, I forget which, there's an option for Keyboard. Switch it over to Compact - it's meant for laptops and keyboards without numberpad. It'll change movement to WASD, and shortcuts will just require pressing a key instead of a key + Alt/Ctrl. Space Bar will open the chat log. You can also mess with the keybinds and shortcut settings.
