Hey guys, my friend got a new computer, vista laptop and she's trying to get FFXI to work onto it. We're having some problems, i've gone through stuff like this before on my vista but I don't remember what I did to resolve the issue...

She has vista PoL and reinstalled all off ffxi but she still cannot log into PoL, we continue to get POL-1160 network error about connections, of course its all correct, anyone know a solution?

Could you give us an idea of your network configuration? Try different configurations like instead of connecting through wireless use your Ethernet to connect wired directly to your modem or router. Also would be worth temporarily disabling firewalls or anti virus programs to see if that is causing any problems.

Just some general networking troubleshoot ideas, I don't have any experience with your particular error. Once you isolate whats causing the problem its easier to pinpoint a solution.

Tried all, still not working

I did some quick googling and the general consensus is that this is an error with the update servers. They say either wait for it to fix it self or reset all your network devices.

its been doing it for 3 days, since she got the comp, no updates have been going on since then though

I just got the vandial collection yesterday and installed the pol thing and had the same exact error. I don't know why it does it. However my friend on the game told me yesterday that I should try installing all of the games first than try to go back in.
