POL.exe DELETED

System crashed and so I had to get it cleaned out. After getting it cleaned out, updating drivers etc Final Fantasy XI would not run. So i uninstall and reinstall Final Fantasy XI 3 separate timesand come to find that it does not install POL.exe file. Wanted to know if I can download the pol.exe file from somewhere.

Re: POL.exe DELETED

Try installing playonline viewer from the playonline viewer disc (or playonline site if you have Vista).

Moved to Game Setup forum.

Are you installing FFXI from the CDs? In any case I'm pretty sure you can get PlayOnline as a free download direct from Square-Enix.

Re: POL.exe DELETED

You can get both forms of PoL directly from the official FFXI site. Pretty much one of the few things you can get directly from there.

Re: POL.exe DELETED

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 separate times.(I'm running on XP) I got a friend to email me the .exe actually but it gets deleted again whenever i try and start up the playonline viewer. If i try to just click on the final fantasy emblem nothing happens. When trying to select the pol.exe to start the playonline viewer it just delete the .exe completely from my system and i have to go get another each time. Any suggestions? Could this be a registry problem?

I don't know whether this helps but this happened to a friend of mine. It wasn't POL that kept being deleted it was an anti-virus program. Turned out some virus he had got was deleting his anti-virus every time he tried installing it/downloading it etc etc

Not sure if they are linked but I'm guessing an in depth sweep of your computer won't hurt?

Re: POL.exe DELETED

Trust me this is going to be something really wierd. Because I haven't done anything with my computer (in terms of downloading for viruses to infect my system). I've already done a sweep of the system and even got my computer looked at my some guys at the Geek Squad @ Best Buy to see if there was anything wrong w/ my system in terms of virsus infection or hardware malfunction. I've re-bought the game as well so it can't be the software. Maybe my computer just hates me.
