Greetings everyone.

I just went on the ff11europe website to get the 14 days trial for FFXI to show this great MMORPG to my wife (I have been having a SMN/BLM about 4 years ago and we feel like coming back).

However I got the email with the reg. code and I get a UCS-4001 error when I try to make it work... what should I do?

Now when I try with another email, I get an error message on the website saying that no other codes can be given and to try again later.

Yes, I know its a total pain getting in touch with them but I look at it like this. I can drive myself nuts and get madder and madder by trying over and over again to log in with the code or mess with it and try and figure it out OR I can watch a video, play my DS/PSP, or chat online while I wait for websupport to answer. Personally, I'd rather relax and be more calm and wait for them to answer. LOL (But thats old age for you, we tend to have a bit more patience than you young whippersnappers! )

I live in the US and some of my family are farmers in the state of Iowa. When I would go visit them, we'd cross the Mississippi River and there would be this advertisement for a restuarant called The Pink Elephant on the other side. It was a huge pink elephant that my parents would pull over for and let us play on. So yes, I've seen a pink elephant........I even rode on one!

according to support from playonline my code is from US version of the game. i been to ff11europe and entered my email again and i was send my code again. so i have the same US code twice, lol :s please can someone help ?

Well I did find where it said that the trial is limited to "selected PAL regions". I don't know if this affects you or not. You can try emailing FilePlanet (who distributes the trial version). You'll need an account made or need to make one:

Be sure to let them know you are in the UK and getting a US code that is not working. Be very specific as to the steps you've taken to solve this problem. Sorry I can't be of more help and I hope that you can get this fixed.

You could also go buy the full version of the game (The Vanadiel Collection 2008) and get the 30 day trial. Of course, this will cost you the initial fee for the game. If you are really interested in playing, you might end up buying it anyways so this would just take away the stress of all this futzing around trying to get the trial version to work. I always think of it in terms of entertainment and how much I spend a month. If the game is just going to take the place of some other things I would otherwise do, then I'm not really wasting money because I would have spent it anyways on the other stuff.

today i bought the retail, but tomorrow i will return it .

i never bought a game where u need a creditcard to play.
there is no way to play without it, cause u cannot register without one via the playonline.
i'm realy pissed, the game box says :requires an accepted payment method (Visa,Mastercard,Meastro,ELV,ect).
while playonline only offers visa or mastercard.
the game looks okey from a very very far distance, will there be a change in the future ?

No the graphic style will always be the same because the game supports the PS2. They can't enhance the graphics for the game because of the PS2 limitations. And you've not even seen how beautiful the game is unless you install it, tweak your settings, and go to some of the areas. This is FFXI:








As far as payment, I have never heard of them accepting any payment other than Visa or Mastercard. It says on the box "Users are responsible for all applicable Internet and subscription fees. A valid Visa or MasterCard is required to set up account."

Did you actually install the retail version, or just buy it for the codes to use on the trial version you installed?

If the EU retail version lists Maestro and ELV (whatever those are), it might be that the retail version will let those through while the trial version does not. (I have absolutely no idea whatsoever if this is actually true; just a possibility.)

I believe you can play with a prepaid card, as long as it's one with the Visa or MasterCard logo and usable as one of said cards.

Yep lots of people use gift cards and debit cards with the Visa or Mastercard logo on them. I personally use 2 different debit cards and one gift card.

@ellipses yes i did install the retail version, i bought from the netherlands where i live. the support from playonline sayd they do support payment from a meastro card, but only in the Uk. oops little mistake there^^.

right now the nice guy from playonline gave me a 14day trial code.
it actually working, and now i only need to wait for 3hr or so when the patch is done and i'm off into this new world :-) .
i'm gonna play @1280 resolution with AA and AF, i cant wait to start, right now i'm gonna watch a movie.

You can also use switch and solo to pay for your game.
There is also pre-pay credit cards you can get online.
I use a virgin money pre-pay card and have never had troubles.
I'm not sure that returning it would be an option because of the code and free trial are now invalid. I'm not sure though but I doubt it will be as easy as returning an ordinary game.
