New Vista Patch = BAD

BAH! M$ released a new patch this morning and ever since I installed it the game has been running like crap. There was some kind of driver update for the nVidia 8600 series (which is what I have) and well, I had no lag before and now I have loads.

How do I fix this? Can I use a system restore point that I made a few weeks back, or can I get that 167 driver beta or w/e it was off nVidia's site?

You should be able to get the driver off of nvidia's website, or rollback the driver itself in the device manager.

I just installed the one for the 8600 an hour ago, and the game runs smoothly (minus the occasional stuttering issue that I seem to now have.)

Are you saying you think it was a Vista patch or a driver update?

Never install drivers from Windows Update.

There's a new one out... should I try it? I can't find the driver that's listed on POL Link.

POL won't update their list of recommended drivers until after something else has problems.

Also, 178.15 is the latest. .13 had some problems with OpenGL on Vista.

That's not what I meant. On nVidia's site I could only find the most recent driver, not the one SE recommends.
