| Goes to 11... | G11 Keyboard not acting right, any suggestions?
Hi all, I bought a G11 keyboard a while ago, and it's never worked quite right. Up until this point I've just dealt with it, but as of this morning I've finally had enough. All I'm trying to do is bind the G1-G9 keys to Alt+1-Alt+9, and G10-G18 to CTRL+1-CTRL+9. I've been through the software and programmed it the way it should be, everything is up to date driver-wise, the profile is active (I set the FFXI profile to default since it's the only game I use the G keys for). But here's the weird thing... The first bank of G keys (G1-G6) works flawlessly; I press them and it does exactly what I want. All the others, though, when I press it just brings up the chat box, similar to what would happen if you pressed the space bar in-game. I've confirmed and re-confirmed that the key macros are saved and whatnot, profile is loaded, restarted and reinstalled the software, etc. So, has anyone ever had a similar problem with this, and if so, what did you do to fix it? Do you think I need to get fancy and put timings and stuff in there? I figured that setting them as just ALT+1 or whatever would be fine since I'm asking it to press both keys simultaneously, but maybe I need to play with the advanced macro editor or something? Anyways, any suggestions would be awesome...I paid too much for this keyboard if all I really get out of it is a backlight.

It's the same thing as my old G15. Doing key comboes with it has always been flaky at best. Hell, even asking it to type more than one line is kind of weird. My advice would be, then, just make 18 specific one or two-line macroes you always want access to. Put *those* in, then just hit the button (and keep your hands off the keyboard till it finishes). If you need more than one line, you'll need to insert a delay of 100ms or so, otherwise it'll screw up the entry.

BTW, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that's had this problem; my friends were of the opinion it's a standard ID10T error. Thanks for your help ^^

If you have the unauthorized Windower, there is a file that is a certain .dll file, that binds the keys perfectly and sends it through without going to the chatbox. Meaning you can run and press the macro without it messing up. You need a file to execute to bind the aliases as well, but it's in that forum. This is one of the few reasons *some* people still use that windower. |
