Finally figured out how to take screenshots in-game using CTRL-] and CTRL-[, but they are always so small...640x640. I have seen high res screenshots here and tons of other places, so I was just wondering how people are doing this? Ultimately I would love to get some screenies that are at least at my monitors resolution (1280x1024). Also, is there a way to remove names and such so I can get a picture that looks something like real life? And how are you guys getting the chat log in the screenshots, that would be great for teaching peeps on our LS. I also have dual monitors...is that going to cause problems taking screenshots (like, am I going to get the other monitors garbage in teh screeny as well or just the main FFXI window)?
Is there a way to do this through windows? I can't print screen for some reason so if there is some setting or something I'd be glad to know. If not, is there a 3rd party ap that JUST does screenshots for this? I'm not interested in Windower or any of that stuff...no need to get banned over this ^^
Anyways, thanks, and if this question has been answered before feel free to post the link to it, I searched around but couldn't find anything about it outside of "where does FFXI put screenshots", which after much digging I found on my own. Is there any way to change THAT at all, or is a shortcut to the folder the only option?

Oh kk, I searched but i didn't see any threads TITLED with this (and the auto suggest brought up the "where are they" stuff). Before someone bites my head off, is there some trick to searching these forums, cause I swear everytime I do I get the most random threads that don't match my search query at all.

Any Screen cap program will only capture as big as the window itself... what I am trying to say is if you are playing ffxi in a window that is 640x480 or 800x600 etc it won't capture it as the size of your desktop.
Print Screen only stores the key press to the clipboard, then you have to paste it in some image editing program to crop out the rest. Most of the SS you see around here are either done with programs Raydeus has mentioned or are "breaking" the TOS and using a 3rd party program(windower as you mentioned) to run their copy of FFXI.
Fraps, etc will create a snapshot of the exact screen as it is shown. I believe why Prt Scrn doesn't work with FFXI, beside when only under the presence of Scroll Lock is coding by SE. With the use of Fraps (etc), upon PRT SCRN (or any other key assigned by you) will create a file for each time the key is pressed in the designated folder.
As for removing the names of the characters... /names will accomplish that for you.
Thanks, I run it windowed in full screen, so thats not an issue...1280x1024 is enough for our little LS website. I'll look into those programs that were mentioned previously ^^

Interesting side note: You aren't going to get banned for windower. Just about everyone and their brother uses windower on PC these days.
No need for paranoia. For the most part, the only ways for SE to detect the usage of the unofficial windower are to illegally access your computer, or you're just stupid and run your mouth about it in-game. The latter is no one's fault but your own.
