Hi,

I recently just purchased the Vana'diel collection 2008 with all the expansions.

i installed it completly patched it up and made account and content id etc patched things up as well. i set the game to my computers native resolution updated all drivers and OS.

the movie loads up fine, and then the main screen is fine. so i go to create a charicter and the game locks up as soon as i choose a race.

i have to reboot my machine because it wont let me manualy close program.

i try again same thing happens. try this 6 time and have the same issue each time!.

i check to make sure everything is up to date and it is so i try this once again to get locked up.

So i figure bad install .. so i delete the game and install once again & patch up ... load game and same crash.

so i try whiping my HD reinstalling only my OS, up to date drivers and my anti virus program and nothing else at all. leave the anti virus off and install the vana'diel collection and patch up and load the game and it crashes once again at the charicter creation screen when i choose a race ... any race!.

I know my computer probably sucks but i thought it should be able to play the game.

My computer has

AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 5200+ CPU
2 gigs of Corsair xms2 high performance DDR2 800 (pc26400)
Nvidia Geforce 7950 GT with 512 mb ram
Creative labs Xi-fi sound card.
300 Gig wd 7200 rpm Hard drive

With all Drivers Updated newest Direct X
Running on Windows XP with newest updates

Like i said its not that good of a computer but its better than the box requirements say.
Any ideas how to fix this?

I'm not a tech head. But are you using vista?

Quite alot of people have had problems with that, Have you checked out the other threads?
Also another thing I remember reading which seemed common is regarding graphics cards, Some people hadn't disabled their previous one and had conflicting issues. As I said I'm no tech-head but it may be beneficial to look at the other threads to see if other members have had the same problem and maybe there is a solution within current existing threads.

I hope you get it sorted though because FFXI is a great game and I'm sure you'll be enjoying it soon.

Have you tried the Simplified Character Creation visuals thing? Start > Programs > PlayOnline > Final Fantasy XI > Final Fantasy Config.
