Problems with FFXI Install

Ok, I've been trying to get the game installed on a friends laptop. Her comp meets all of the requirements for playing but im still having trouble installing.

For starters when I try to run the config tool, all it shows is an empty box. It shows none of the options. I think that this may be the root of her problems, but as i've never encountered this before im not sure.

She told me she got an error while she was updating last night, as well as before she was getting the uncompatable hardware option before I had her uninstall and reinstall. I had hoped it would fix her problem.

Re: Problems with FFXI Install

Posting the computer specs and os would go a long way in helping someone answer your question. Knowing the error code could also help.

While it appears to fill the requirements, its not a very powerful computer is it? Your friend isnt going to have a pleasant game experience from that, the graphics card may be the problem, looks like it doesnt have much memory... sorry if i'm not much help

Re: Problems with FFXI Install

No you're right Balfree. FFXI does not do well with on board graphics so I'd hazard a guess and say that is probably the issue. I have a feeling your friend's error message went something like this:

Terminated as error occurred in FINAL FANTASY XI. Failed to recognize hardware TnL. Please check that this computer has the required specs to run Final Fantasy XI.(-1)

Tell him/her they might want to try this FFXI Failed to recognize hardware TnL but other than a huge registry edit, I have no idea. Replacing the video card isn't a wise option since its onboard graphics. Probably could buy a new laptop for what you'd spend paying for that to be done.
