FFXI on vista 64 bit?

I've read a couple threads concerning this issue but none really address my specific question.

I'm about to buy a new laptop and I am going back and forth between a vista 32 bit or a vista 64 bit system. Mainly because I want the extra ram and I know 32 bit only goes to around 3g of ram. Is there any issue FFXI has specifically with vista 64 bit that I should take into account?

BTW, if anyone is planning buying a computer and knows somebody with a costco card there is a really good deal on the dv9700t (17in HP laptop).

Here's the spec for the one I'm planning on getting:

Selected Features:

4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

50% OFF 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS!!
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
17.0" diagonal WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
FREE Upgrade to HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone
Norton Internet Security(TM) 2008 - 36 Month Subscription
No TV Tuner w/remote control

Included Features:
HP Pavilion dv9700t Entertainment Notebook PC

Touch Pad with On

Plus coscto adds an additional 2 year warranty to the 1 year warranty that comes with HP. All for $1450.

Re: FFXI on vista 64 bit?

I bought the same laptop for my daughter for college. I installed ffxi on it just to see what it looked like. It was sooooo good I bought one for myself. I play ff on a wireless connection and it matches performance of my desktop. I've had no problems at all-- enjoy !

I run FFXI on Vista 64-bit (on different hardware) and don't have any issues.

I'm not positive, but I think 32-bit software shouldn't have a problem running on 64-bit Windows operating systems. I think the problems only begin when you try to find 64-bit drivers for your various hardware devices...

So, FFXI, the game itself, should be fine.

Agreed, I use 64 bit Vista myself, and it works fine!

Re: FFXI on vista 64 bit?

Ah, good to hear all of the comments. I'm really looking forward to this laptop as my old desktop is on its last limb. I have to wait until next week to make the purchase and its really getting me...feel like a 5 year old going to disneyland next week.

It's not letting me install the god damn viewer...

I'm an admin and everything, I tried turning UAC on and off, it still keeps bitching at me about not having access privileges!!!!
