Error code: FFXI 3100 - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

so im back from a 6 month break and my bro reactivated our account from his place. So i got a new comp and new internet (got rid of dial-up and now seems like i could actually do something with that that i cant do with broadband) and i installed ffxi, POL loads up just fine but when i get to the screen after the opening movie where u either accept or decline, i press accept and it gets stuck on connecting to lobby server and then gives me the Error code: FFXI 3100 message. Ive tried everything: opening ports, taking down firewalls and anti virus protection. has anyone else experienced this problem or know what is wrong? im dying to get back on!

nope, never heard of it before.

the problem is either due to SE or your firewall. not much other info out there.

Yes I have had it many times if you watch the movie in length, basically your ISP has lost the connection or "goen to sleep" while the moive was playign due to inactivity, when teh movie finishes it can';t get a conenction quick enough to carry on.
Best thing to do, watch teh moive once so you have seen it, then go to
C:\Program files - Playonline - Square enix - Final Fantasy XI - Then either tools Us or tools EU (depending on what version your is) then click on the final fantasy XI config file. go to the misc tab and deselect the "show opening movie" tick box. Click apply and save settings. Restart your comp (its always good to) and it will not show the movie and should carry on without that error.

If you don't want to mess with all that just press the escape key on your keyboard as soon as the movie starts and it skips the movie and should carry on ok from there with logging into the game.

but i dont ever even watch that movie and it still doesnt work, it get to that same place on my 360 too.

It helps if you post operating system, connection to modem etc etc.

well i found out that it must be my internet provider because i took it to a friends house with the same internet and it had the same problem, then took it to another friends house with regular cable and it workd just fine.
