on a serioous note, right click and look for compatibility options. Try to run it as '98 or something. | Quote: | | When I first did the balance tests, the machine actually mocked me. If so, whatever has changed is your likely culprit. Check your vid card drivers, sound card drivers, do a system scan, try defragging, etc.
If you can't seem to find a problem, (or the problem is unique to Final Fantasy), try and do a reinstall. It sucks (particularly if you've got old versions of the discs), but sometimes it's necessary. If it's even possible (I've never tried, but is possible in other MMO's) you can back up your macro pallettes and such to make it a little less painful.
Don't know why XP would have any problems with it...I've been running FFXI on XP SP2 for almost 2 years and never had a problem (outside of unrelated hard drive failures and the occasional update that times out for no reason) I need to engage in homicidal behavior on a massive scale. It cannot be corrected but I have no other way to fulfill my needs. - Patrick Bateman | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 10-28-2007, 01:29 AM | #4 (permalink) | | Knowledge Vending Machine Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Bastok Mines Posts: 626 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 98 Thanked 75x in 44 Posts Gil: 307 Bank: 18,453 Total Gil: 18,760 Donate | Re: operating system not recognized FFXI in-game settings, including macros, are all located under C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER in a typical install. Thank you!
Just curious, Dudemanx, did you ever figure out your problem? I need to engage in homicidal behavior on a massive scale.
