Could i get ffxi to run ok on this??

My laptop.

p4 1.7ghz
512mb Ram
40gig HD
16mb Video card nvidea 2 <------ my main issue
Now while everything else supports, my video card is the prob, i know the min card require is 32, but to buy it and upgrade would cost me $110 plus shipping.

I have a desktop, but i would love to play when im traveling. please advise, thanks!

Maybe, maybe not. You could try downloading the benchmark program and seeing how it runs, but I wouldn't hold your breath that the game will run.

Vana'diel Benchmark 3 is the surefire way to test it. My older desktop PC (which is now some 7 years old) has slightly higher specs than that and barely runs FFXI at a decent framerate at 800x600 resolution, so I don't even know if the game would be playable even if it runs at all.

Well, I know on the computer I use most of the time, the graphics card is below the "minimum" requirement. (And not by a small amount either.) And everything looks and runs pretty well. Some things are more noticeable though, like when I have a staff on my back, it doesn't always look like a clean cut smooth line, but more jagged. And when I take screenshots, the image doesn't look as pretty as it looked when I was playing. But overall, the lesser quality is actually pretty minimal. It's not enough to make me complain, or wish I had a better card. (Except when it comes to screenshots.

im sorry, it turns out i have a 8mb card installed, im running the bench right now to see what score i get, if its in the 900's im gonna upgrade to my 16mb i have, if low, im getting my 32mb

kailea: laptops, not desktop. Honestly, I wasn't aware they made laptops with easily upgradeable graphics cards.
