Crashing in Port Windurst

Alright, I've been playing FFXI with no problems on this computer since I bought it ("it" being the computer). I haven't installed anything recently at all, much less anything that affects graphics; I've also tried putting all my settings at their lowest in FFXI Config.

My problem is this: I walked to a certain point in Port Windurst (passing through the tunnel that leads to the bridge crossing the river, J-5ish), and my game crashed. I got a generic "PlayOnline Viewer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" message from my computer, and now when I log back in on the same character my game just crashes again with the same message.

My mule, in Port San d'Oria, is having no trouble. I had my main character pass through Aht Urhgan and a different part of the Port before I ran into the problem, so I guess it's specific to this part of Windurst.

This hasn't happened to me before. I suppose it has something to do with the chocobo racing update?

Any ideas?

(Sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum, but I don't really know where else it would go)

EDIT: Just gonna try reinstalling. Hurray for tedious updates!

I had the exact problem you have. I would crash in North Sandy in the same spot and never had any problems anywhere else. You will have to reinstall.
