PS2 + Wi-Fi= mega headache

I used to use some old WET-11 lynksys boxes to connect my PS2 wirelessly but they were...well abit slow(fine for FFXI tho!). I went and bought a Lynksys Wireless G Game adapter and I never could get it very far from the router before it refused to connect. I have now wasted $100 on that dang thing after thinking it'd clear up in awhile(I may try to sell it on Ebay).

My quesion here is does anyone have any recomendation for some sort of a Wireless G eternet bridge/game adapter? (I haven't tried it yet but I bought the G version of the WET-11 hoping it was just as good and not a hunk of junk like the game adapter!)

is your router G? That could be a big help. You might also want to try Draft N, i'm fairly sure it's got a much longer range, and I read that Draft N products are going to be certified by the authority that handles Wifi standards soon, so they should be compatible with each other, even though the final N plans probably won't be finished until 2009.

Re: PS2 + Wi-Fi= mega headache

yes I have a G router....I just used the B reciver boxes becse..at the time...the G ones cost alot. BTW: When the real wireless ethernet bridge I ordered got delived last night(I had to buy it online) it worked fine once I got it configured.

The weird part abut the stupid game adapter is that I have a Nintendo Wii right next to it that works fine on the internet channel and the Wii shop channel...I just think it was a hunk of junk...

Re: PS2 + Wi-Fi= mega headache

are you sure teh router is in compatibilty mode? I think some routers need to be on certain settings to transmit a/b or a/g etc.

I would have a more helpful response, but i've been awake far too long.

EDIT: check the bridge adapter manuals. the Wii requires the router's channels to be on 1 or 11 last I checked, the bridge might not function on those channels

Re: PS2 + Wi-Fi= mega headache

I guess I wasn't clear. My Wii just jumped right on and works fine while the old box...AKA: The Linksys wireless G game adapter didn't work but my Wii(that is hooked up right next to it) does[the Wii is 100% fine online]. It's dead weird...

I bought a Linksys WET54G (wireless ethernet bridge) and once I configred that I got right on.

I was trying to update you and complain about how much of a hunk of junk that game adapter turned out to be.

Well not directly. You can connect Wireless ethernet bridges(basicly a wi-fi to ethernet box) to the network adapter. That's what I was talking about in my eariler posts.
