A little background first- I play FFXI on PS2 and I have RoZ and CoP for it. My husband was playing on Xbox 360 with all three expansions, but he quit. So, I decided to switch to using the Xbox, and I registered my PoL ID and my game codes with the Xbox. The thing is, because my husband was playing the Xbox version, ToA is installed, but linked to his ID. I cannot access any of the content without my own registration code, which I don't have.
If I buy the new Vana'diel collection for PC, will I be able to install it on my computer and use the ToA code for my Xbox account? If so, how should I go about it? Install on PC first, link codes to my PoL ID, then enter code on Xbox? I'm just worried that I'll go about it all wrong and waste the registration code for ToA.
Has anyone attempted anything like this? I need some reassurance! I cannot wait to go to ToA areas; I've been playing for 7 months now and its starting to really annoy me when I can't go to Besieged and stuff with my friends. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-03-2007, 02:00 PM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Oregon Posts: 38 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 2 Thanked 3x in 3 Posts Gil: 156 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 156 Donate | Re: Going PS2 to Xbox 360 to PC... I have had to do a bunch of crazy crap with reg codes and installs.
The one thing ive noticed, is that installing is a seperate step than registering.
If you installed ToA (or all of them) on PC. then you can register.
But, if you go back onto xbox 360, you wont have a way to install the expansion.
So I dunno how abouts how to do it.. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-03-2007, 02:02 PM | #3 (permalink) | | J...atatouille Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 8,338 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 136x in 106 Posts Gil: 25,855 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 25,855 Donate | Re: Going PS2 to Xbox 360 to PC... Leave the xbox alone for a moment.
What you need is exectly the ToAU registration key. The Vana collection 2007 will give you that key.
I'm pretty sure you'll be able to register it to your account assuming your PS2 is NA version right? Make sure the 2007 collection is also NA version and you should be good.
Once you're registered, you can use your account everywhere. So playong on Xbox should work, too. Your xbox already has all expansion installed so there should be no problem. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Thanks for the input so far. What I gather from what Jei is saying is that I could use the registration key from the 2007 collection to 'unlock' the ToA content in my Xbox? That was my plan, but what if I want to install the collection on my PC as well (If I buy it I might as well install it on PC too)? The reg code won't be 'used up' will it? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-03-2007, 03:00 PM | #5 (permalink) | | J...atatouille Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 8,338 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 136x in 106 Posts Gil: 25,855 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 25,855 Donate | Re: Going PS2 to Xbox 360 to PC... Yes you can do the installation as well. Registration key is only used when you register. Installing is a total seperate thing. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

It'll be a serious waste if you register FFXI, Zilart, CoP on your PC, and then ToAU on XBOX360. :-\
This is what I do, and I don't know if this will help...
I started on PS2, and my GF started on PC. I am NOW on PC as well. What I do is, I still keep my PS2 updated, regardless, so I still purchase the expansion packs for PS2 and install them with the Reg Code. I then use my GF's software to install it in my PC, since I already registered for it. Hope that helps.
If you buy the Collection for PC, I'd recommend installing EVERYTHING on that. Since ToAU is already installed in the 360, you can play on that eventually once ToAU is registered to your ID using the PC version. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-03-2007, 03:04 PM | #7 (permalink) | | Dr. Tran Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Los Angeles, Ca. Registration codes are tied into your account, not your install/game/computer/etc. As long as you're playing on an account that has the expansions registered and whatever you're currently playing on has the expansions installed, it will work. Obviously ToAU is included w/ 360 version so it will already be installed.
Keys are not platform based, just region based, so technically you can use a key from PS2 FFXI & RoZ, a key from PC CoP, and a key from 360 ToAU all on the same account. So, if you've already got the game installed on whatever you want to play it on, just get the key the cheapest way you can, regardless of platform.

Thanks all! I installed the game yesterday on my PC and everything seems to be ok registration-wise. The only problem is that the game looks absolutely horrible on my PC! Its all pixelly, and NPC/character names are completely unreadable. My monitor is a little bigger than normal (I think its 21 inch), could this be why? Its a brand new (2 months old) PC, and it runs other games just fine (my husband plays WoW and it looks ok). I can't even fathom trying to play with the way it looks right now. Anyone have suggestions?
Edited to add: I did a little looking around and it seems I should try making sure that all my video cards are updated and that Direct X is updated... or something. I'm such a PC newb. I'll try that stuff when I get home. Any suggestions though, I'd be happy to hear. Last edited by Chveya : 01-04-2007 at 12:03 PM. Set the resolution of the game to whatever you're comfortable with on PC.

You should check the resolution settings of the game. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | The following user says "Thank You" to Eohmer for above post: | | | 01-05-2007, 09:10 AM | #13 (permalink) | | Has Job ADD Join Date: May 2006 Location: WA state USA Posts: 156 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 27 Thanked 8x in 8 Posts Gil: 8,477 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 8,477 Donate | Re: Going PS2 to Xbox 360 to PC...
