First 3 cds install fine.
RotZ works fine...until about the 50% mark, where I got an error message every percent or two. "Error 1305.Error reading from file D:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XI\ROM2\0\23.DAT. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." I press "Retry", and the installation will advance a percent...and I do this for an extended period of time, until installation reaches 100%, at which point I pray that it will actually finish the installation. I'm at 100% now, it won't actually finish, same error message.
It's done this straight out of the box, the cd is mint.
I've tried it on another computer and it's worked fine.
I'm starting to think it might have something to do with my RAID0 array that I'm installing it on (although I don't know why that should make any difference)
I always manage to get it to install after numerous attempts, but it's getting quite irritating. I've been trying to get it to install all day. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-30-2006, 04:53 PM | #2 (permalink) | | anti-spam Super Moderator Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 5,535 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 22 Thanked 64x in 59 Posts Gil: 45,382 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45,382 Donate | Re: RotZ Installation HELL check your HDD for bad sectors or errors. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-30-2006, 05:14 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Posts: 8 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 45 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45 Donate | Re: RotZ Installation HELL That's not it.
But the error message that comes up... says it's looking for a file on my computer, and I look for it, and it's not there. So...there's the problem. Maybe someone can send me that file? 23.DAT and 24.DAT in the ROM2\0 Dir. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-30-2006, 05:25 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Posts: 8 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 45 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45 Donate | Re: RotZ Installation HELL I don't think that'll work either...sigh. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-30-2006, 05:33 PM | #5 (permalink) | | J...atatouille Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 8,338 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 136x in 106 Posts Gil: 29,299 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 29,299 Donate | Re: RotZ Installation HELL you have other copies of the disc you can try? if it keeps happenning it may be your hard drive like neighbor suggested There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

The only thing I can think of is the RAID, but I don't know why I'd have problems with RotZ and not the original game or CoP expansion. What I'm wondering is, though, I have RotZ registered with my account or whatever.... it is now updating...is it going to download the missing files? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-30-2006, 06:16 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Posts: 8 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 45 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45 Donate | Re: RotZ Installation HELL Nope, it didn't. I'm in game but without either expansions installed. What an irritant. and the game looks crappy as always.... time to look into the high res background thing... | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 10-01-2006, 07:56 AM | #10 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Location: Brooklyn, NY Posts: 756 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 16 Thanked 4x in 4 Posts Gil: 6,023 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 6,023 Donate | Re: RotZ Installation HELL what was the problem? THIS is the problem I'm always having, the not being able to access a file thing is something new....so I checked the buttom of the disc, and there's a big piece of like styrofoam on it....but the cdrw drive still won't initialize the installation, but the dvd drive does, and then I get it installed in 30 seconds. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 10-01-2006, 01:35 PM | #12 (permalink) | | anti-spam Super Moderator Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 5,535 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 22 Thanked 64x in 59 Posts Gil: 45,382 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45,382 Donate | Re: RotZ Installation HELL lol styrofoam. yeah that'll do it | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
