Japanese Version PS2 Help
I recently found in a Japanese PS2 with a Japanese BB-unit(Hardrive and Network Adapter) and the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XI with no expantions in a pawn shop for an unbelievable price. I am learning japanese but don't know much right now. I would like to play the japanese version to possibly help me learn more japanese. I have no idea how to start sign up, get through the menus or what address i should use. I have been reading up a little on this forum but i can't seem to find any definate guides. Could some one possibly tell my what information and address i should use so that I will not get suspended by SE and where to use this information when going through the sign up process considering that i cant really read japanese.
Thanks

Oh yeah and I forgot to say that I do have a valid debit card and US address but i do not know anyone who lives in Japan

Re: Japanese Version PS2 Help
FYI, FFXI isn't exactly the best game for learning the language... most of the terms used in the games are just English terms, spelt out in katakana.

But anyways, if I remember correctly, the menu in the JP version has the same layout as the US version. It's just using the standard controller scheme (O = confirm and X = cancel, etc) that's also on NA PC version of the game instead of the NA PS2 scheme.

Re: Japanese Version PS2 Help
hmmm ok that helps a lot because i do have an english version that has the book but the keys on it have been used... Can anyone tell my what address i need to use. Is it just any valid Japanese address or is there some trick to getting a US address in. And to keep my account from being suspended I just need to make sure to update my credit card before it is expired. Are there any other things i need to know to prevend SE from suspending my account?
Thanks

Re: Japanese Version PS2 Help
You can just use your NA account and log in on the JP PS2. There is no need to re-register. The accounts are useable universally.

Re: Japanese Version PS2 Help
You would need to buy a copy of NA version of FFXI then. A fresh CD key is required for creating a new account. You can either do it with a PS2 or a PC version.

You can do it with a fresh JP version too, but that just makes things more complicated. =)

Re: Japanese Version PS2 Help
I would rather not buy another copy of the game. But if anyone could explain how to do it with the fresh Japanese keys.
Thanks

Re: Japanese Version PS2 Help
Err... unless the CD key you got is fresh, as in, noone ever used it to register, you will have to get a new copy anyways.

If it's from a pawn shop, chances are, it's been used.

Try the steps from this thread then.

Skip the installation part since it's for PC, and go straight to the registration.
