ok, are you using a router? if so use this nifty web site to set up opening ports, but I don't think nthis will help, I'm not going to leave you out there on your own! PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall |

I'll try this out, it's got the BTHomeHub router on there so I'll follow these steps. ______________________________ I've got a slight problem, I get to the last step of entering the port numbers, but its telling me the base port is too high. you have it at 50000, and not 500000. Just checking, not trying to second guess you, but I have a belkin router and the homehub router is new to me. Going to recap again on everything we ahve done. I am assuming the following have been done..... 1.Vista has been fully updated with all the updates available. 2.Your ati video card also has the newest catalyst drivers available. 8.1 something I think 3.go to microsoft and download the newest DX10 stuff, even if you already have it, it will download and installl again. 4. what your doing now and opening up ports. 5.Firewall is configured to allow programs "POL" and "Final Fantasy" 6.I am not running POL under "XP Compatability" Mode. I have up to point assumed you have downloaded the Vista capable version of POL from their website 7.Uninstalled all aspects of Norton, antivirus, anti spy, norton privacy filter, (thats the one that gets you i think) and Norton firewall and/or internet security. If your not sure, go to control panel, programs and features and make sure all/anything with Norton in the title is removed and reboot. I'll be here waiting for your reply |

Just downloaded the POL viewer again, as last time I used it I couldn't even get onto the game, and figured I didn't need it as the back of the starter kit says Vista, so that is now downloading the updates. Everything else is sorted, expect opening the ports I put in 50000 and it's still saying it's too high. :/

65335 added, but I did more research and they are saying the number should be 65535. Strange. ______________________________ Run into another problem. It's now telling me that FFXI isn't installed whenever I load up the game via PlayOnline Viewer, when I know it is installed. :/ Last edited by Cayde; 01-29-2008 at 07:36 PM. crap, you may have to go through an entire re-install. Was thinking about it last night, did you try the disabling of the prefetch, and all that? didn't make a difference for me, but since those take up resources, such as RAM, and you are only running 1 gig, that may help. guess let me know after the reinstall, but before you do that, back up the Macro Files and stuff, I hate making new macros all over again. BTW, after getting mine fixed, average frame rate is in the mid to high 30s, max I have seen so far was in the 70s, i'm loving it. ______________________________ checking in to see how things are going Last edited by DIckyDck; 01-30-2008 at 09:23 PM. Ah ha! I don't need to re-install anything, I've sorted that problem out, now I just need to sort out the main problem again.
