Visa Card problems
I'm continually getting the error message when I attempt to give my details of payment for my playonline account. I've used the only two cards I have, and no they do not have a middle name attached to them.

Basically I'm wondering what course of action I can pursue so I can still play this game since my cards don't seem to be working so far.

Yep. I already looked into all the possibilities presented here in other posts having to do with this problem, as I know I personally hate people asking questions before they've tried the obvious solutions ;-)

:dead: I've had this problem since 2/27/03 when I got FFXI.....I still haven't been able to play FFXI because my Washington Mutual Visa Debit card doesn't seem to work, I also have tried 2 of them and neither work. Perhaps, Celeyron, you too have this brand. The only other choice you/we have is to get another credit card! I've already tried doing this, only another week. Although it would really help if successful cc/debit card users could post their type of card and bank issuer so that new users could be better informed. BTW, does anyone use JCB cards?

Is it possible that your billing address is not matching up to your card? It's been a while since I registered mine, but if I remember correctly, there might be 2 separate sections for your postal address and your billing address. As long as its Visa, MC, or JCB, it shouldn't matter whether its a credit card or a debit card.

Aldo you hit it on the mark, for all I've been using are Washington Mutual Debit Cards... ::sigh:: Is there a simple credit card I can sign up for that will work internationally?

Peacemaker, there is no billing address to fill out on playonline, and I've yet to see a purchase that needed the same addresses.

I seem to remember people selling accounts tho on this fourm, but I guess I misread that... uck, I've had FFXI as long as you too, it's driving me crazy, just want to play

Check with your credit/debit card company/bank.
Some cards/bank/companies do not allow international charges because they have no overseas branches to handle such things. I have a friend that tried to use a Visa debit card that was issued by a "relatively smaller" bank, it failed. I tried with my Bank of America debit card and it worked.

Other banks/companies are anal retentive about billing addresses when it comes to online charges and demands that everything matches up, even up to the extended 9 digit zip code if that is what you included. And we all know that Japanese address formats are different.

Some stupid idiot banks  requires you to call them and virtually force them to allow a charge that is overseas. It is annoying with some banks, and while others are better about it.
