Copy install from HD to HD or reinstall ?

hi,

i'm changing my PC and i need to "reinstall" FFXI. Can I copy my previous install from one PC to the other ? or do i need to reinstall FFXI ?
That would be the same problem if I did a fresh install of Windows ? do i need to reinstall FFXI or the previous install will work ?

dont tell me i'll have to do the patching for hours again . Doing the CDs is ok , the patching is really long :confused: , if so, is there a way to recover the patch without downloading them all again ?

Sounds like you will have to reinstal. FFXI creates regestry entries (which wouldn't be copied over) and without these the game likely won't even start up.

There is a folder though, and I disremember exactly where it's at, that contains your macros, custom colors & filters, and maybe some other miscellanious stuff (spell list order, I think?). You can copy that one, and kept all your settings.
