As far as I know, POL is a free service - you'll never be prompted to reactivate your Content ID until you try to hit "play" in the FFXI portion of it.

EDIT: Read your post more carefully - if you have an active content ID already then there is a problem and you need to contact S-E about it.

But if you've recently deactivated your ID and you want to reactivate it now, you will not be charged for two - you'll just have to resume payments on it.

Ohhh! I get it now.

People from S-E say you have to buy another copy of the game, but I'd try re-installing PlayOnline and selecting the "New Members" option and see if that works.

account inactivity
Earlier this year, in March, I was deployed to Korea. I don't have internet connection here in korea to play ffxi. I am currently using our connection at work, which blocks a plether of udp and tcp packets. My question is, I never deactivated my account or deleted any POL IDs, will I be able to reactivate my account? I saw on my checking account that my last SE billing was from early April. I had set my payment options to automatically pull from my checking. But I don't know why it suddenly stopped paying after April. Does anyone have a success story in retrieving their account after 3 months of inactivity? I return to the states next month and I am yearning for some ffxi. I'd really love to play my thf again and it would suck if I had to start from lv 1 , rank 1, fame 1. Thx in advance for any helpful replies
