Error code: POL-0008
Hello, this is Firephoenix from the Ifrit server. I am posting an error that I receive almost constantly in gameplay. It occurs at random times too, it could be 5 minutes in or 4 hours in, its completely random. The error looks like this, I’ve written it down.

Error code: POL-0008
Network is busy or there are connection problems. Please try again later or verify that cables, networking devices, and network settings are properly configured.

I am at a loss of what to do. I have messed with every game setting I can find, to no avail. Since I run the game off of a WLAN (wireless local area network) it has been suggested that my router and access point could be the problem. Well I successfully hooked up a wired connection, also to no avail. In fact it seemed like the error occurred more then, but that’s just me. I have e-mailed SE twice about this problem, only to receive the exact same emails each time. On the email it says to reply with more specific computer specs if the email didn’t fix the problem, which I will be doing later today. I’ve called a GM in game, just for the heck of it (because I know they can’t help with connection problems) and sure enough, he said the only thing he could suggest was contacting the technical support center. I have done virus scans, had the POL scanner scan FFXI and POL files, nothing corrupted. I have searched everywhere and I can’t even find someone with the same problem. My only thought now is that if I reinstalled the game that might work, but heck I’ll try anything now, I just don’t want to have to quit.

So now I have come here. I am posting this as one last “cry for help� before I am forced to quit this game. I already have isolated myself from experience parties, because I just waste their time. All I can really do is craft, which to me is too boring. So bottom-line, if anyone know absolutely anything about this, please reply. Any suggestions are welcome, and if I forgot something I did in this post I’ll write it later.

You've made a physical connection from the hub to your computer and it still didn't work? Ouch >.>

Are there tons of people sharing this connection, or are you running multiple high bandwidth downloads from that connection? There's a slim chance that your connection is just bogged down if one of the above is true.

If not, I hear of PC utilities that actively monitor your connection, but I don't know of any personally. They'll tell you whether your connection is actually failing or if it's a problem on S-E's end. Just try googling it up - I doubt one will be hard to find.

If you find that your connection IS being interrupted, then bitch out your ISP. If not, you're more than likely screwed. If it isn't your connection and S-E's suggestions aren't working, they probably won't really care enough to pinpoint the root of the problem until a lot of people begin reporting it. At least that's my experience with other MMORPGs. S-E very well may be different^^

Thanks for the reply, great suggestions.

What ive come to think is that the problem is with my ISP, and they couldnt care less about me so I'm not going to bother contacting them. Since the last patch(not really the last one but second to last one ^^) it has gone down a considerable amount.

Honestly, I dont care about it anymore, every party ive been in doesnt mind and/or I dont DC anyway

And i was able to spend 6 hours in Eldieme Necropolis for my paper drop without DCing at all, so I'm pretty happy with my connection right now. There are bad days, when Ill DC around 6 times, fortunately all during soloing.

Anyways thanks for the reply, sorry i cant use anything cus i kinda gave up attempting to fix it.
