FFXI Connection friendly?

one night after ffxi-ing i was surfing the net. no more than two minutes the ready light started blinking on my dsl modem (westell). i have verizon dsl and i go through a router linksys befrs41 v.2. anyway the ready light would stay blinking and my internet connection speed would be dramtaicly slow. while playing ffxi i did have NIS on and it still ran fine. after some configuring and getting some help from verizon internet help (about the internet speed) and gotten every straighten out. then i started ffxi again and all was good but then eventually the ready light stared blinking again. i looked at the manual for the modem and it indicatess that when the ready light blinks its downloading instructions ( mostlikey speed instructions for the service your purchased with verizon dsl). so far i reinstalled every thing from the os on up, about to reinstall ffxi and was asking if any else has had this problem.

I know one thing for sure, I used to be on Verizone DSL a while ago and it got real slow during the afternoon because your sharing your power with everyone in your nearby neighborhood. It caused real stress so I switched to Road Runner Cable and now I've been with it for 2 years and never had a problem.
