bought the game 23rd.. havent been able to play since..

heres the problem.
Everytime i log in and get to the FFXI screen where it has Play at the top.. then the menu with Compendium, Information, Q&A, etc..

I hit play.. then it goes to a screen where it begins to download the new version information.. now, as soon as the guage hits 100%, i get an error message...

Version Update Communication Error

Error code: POL-0010

Nework is busy or there are connection problems, try back later, also make sure all hardware is atached properly, blah blah, contact support.

Now, i did calll the phone support and the guy said my problem is that there are too many people trying to register at once because of the new release and all, and that this congestion is causing me to be kicked everytime and that it should fix itself in a few days naturally and to keep trying to download the new version info every hour or so.

Well, ive been doing this for 5 days and it hasnt let me through yet,

Is this the real reason or was he just Bs-ing me?
He said its happening to alot of the new PS2 subscribers and is a common problem.

Ive tried a few things like changing the MTU value in my connection settings and trying to get in several times in a row.. no success.

I am on dialup also.

well i still get the error , i even stayed up till 3am and tried. i am gonna talk to a friend and see if he has the same prob cause he has broadband too. so i hope we can get this fixed.

i had the same problem i got it n the 23rd and it took me like 5 days on my pring break wene not many people were o i the morning mst people are working i got in but now with the new donload for the pvp i cant play anymore

Ok my friend just bought this game for his ps2. He set up all his network information, and his FFXI cerdit card info and even downloaded the POL updade, and bought his content Id. But on the screen with the Jungle and the moogle, He hits play and it says it needs to update. It says step one preparing to update. it Says its downlaoding latest information. He fully downloads the preparing to download thing, but then an error screen pops up. It says version update communication error- error code POL-0010, and says network is busy or there are connection problems. Then after that he hits the Network Connections Information on the error screen and it says "Default route adress not set"

yeah im having the same problem, I have no clue what we can do to stop it

But i think i herd from a thread somewhere you can try using this phone #, or letting someone with cable download it for you
