Does Rambus Ram and Double Data Rate Ram work together? I thought that Rambus Ram was a Pentium specific ram and they eventually switched over to DDR because it was faster. I would say that 512MB of DDR will do you better than RD. Im running 400Mhz pc 3200 Ram sticks, but the highest you really need is pc 2700. ~^^~ Hope this helps.

Yes, I believe so. As long as the ram your using is SDRAM and not RDRAM or DDRAM. Make sure you have an open slot on the motherboard to. Last but not least look on www.pricewatch.com to make sure your finding the best deal for hardware. Gambare~^^~

Save up enough money for a new motherboard and DDR RAM. You'll realize how unbelievably shit PC133 RAM is when you compare it to DDR333.

you should normally have 3-4 DIMM sockets for memory. Notice if there are any extra spaces, and if there are, then you have space to put in more memory. BUT, note that some older motherboards wont fully utilize the newer memory because of the mobo's lack of reaching the memory's desired MHz (for example, a new motherboard is made for DDR 400 (400 MHz) and the old mobo isnt....say its only 133, if you put some DDR 400 mem into the old mobo, it will only run at 133, but if you put the same mem into the newer board, it will run at the full 400, get it?

Thats a god idea ted......DDR 400 isnt the bang for the buck right now...but i have it anyways, and if anyone is running on a tight budget, then DDR 333 is the way to go **note** Rambus works better with Intel chips, and DDR favours the Athlon chips

Yea, its true that if you have the money you can get a new system, but not everyone knows every corner of a PC like some of us so they would have to buy a packaged deal. ^^ Also, yes RDRAM does favor Intel processors, but that's only because Intel paid for the creation of RDRAM. DDRAM is non-processor specific so it doesnt favor either one. Also, RDRAM doesnt like non-intel chipsets on motherboards, so DDRAM is the best choice unless you can afford to get everything intel inside(tm), then you should get RDRAM. =P Just don't plan on updating any time soon unless your going to buy intell for the rest of your life. ~^^~

Dual Channel DDR466 can perform better than PC4200 RDRAM in gaming, even on Pentium machines. Next year RAMBUS will be dead.

4200 MBps is the theoretical bandwidth.

Actually RD ram just loads multiple data sources at once.

oh, so sort of like HyperThreading. In the case of "not being so much faster, but being able to handle more at once". ahh, now im starting to get it, but i still like AMD's and DDR's better than Intel ,and RD Ram P.S> im making a nice water cooling system Wonder if any1 has heard of Thermoelectric Liquid cooling? its totally cool. Like the electricity turns one side of a block totally hot, and the other totally cold Since im getting a nice AMD XP 2800, i should be able to overclock it to 3 Ghz im all ready for Doom 3

P.S.>>>> i know this is off-topic, but meh.... :p
