Yea so like whats the real diff between the TX and Pro series of ATI Radeon? Pro is like twice the price of TX and appears to have the same features......And is it even worth it to get ATI if FFXI's reqs say (according to Himeya, atleast) that it won't function on non GeForce series? Oh yeah, and whats the difference between the MX and Ti series of GeForce3/4? My sis has got GeForce4 MX and it plays real clean........but I hear Radeon is much, much better than GeForce...Which one is better overall? For FFXI? While I'm on this topic, how helpful is 500+ ram? I've seen this crazy sh!t on Dell thats 1gb ram, thats like insane! Would higher ram compensate for an inferior gfx card? I have like 512, I'm assuming this is enough.....but I was curious what the difference between, let's say my 512 would be as opposed to a 1.5gb one. |

as long as your RAM is not SDRAM, then 512MB will guarantee smooth. |

Ram doesent really make it smooth, it's just loading memory alot faster. The Geforce 4 mx is a bad card for some of the new games and it wont run not as near good as a ti 4200 would. The Geforce 4 ti 4600(Nvidias top geforce card currently out) is better than any Radeon out there except for the Radeon 9700 which costs a fortune. You still see bugs in the game with a Radeon 9700 but some say their catalyst drivers fixed it and DX9 but I'll tell you one thing for sure. The game was optimized on a Geforce 4 ti, so you'll get the best out of it using that card.

Gah, you're serious! You have a Pro 9000 and it sucks? What is your ram? What is SD ram anyhow? And also, I have never heard of 9700, wtf? I've seen 9000 on the Dell site for like 340 (Pro) and 120 (TX). WTF is going on!!!!!!!!! Ti4600 isn't as expensive as Radeon is it? How come people are telling me that Radeon is better...the price sure hints that it may be. GeForce isn't on this site.....bah! Hey Elite, if the guy w/ the Radeon 9000 has like 1gb ram would his lagging stop? Oh yah, and Radeon guy, other than the lagging is the gfx good overall? Do you hav broadband, maybe thats why its lagging.....:spin:

Well while everyone is discussing video cards i got a question. I got a geforce 3 ti200 right now and i lag up when im in a full pt in valkrum shores and of course in south sandoria auction house So now that i have the money i was thinking of buying a geforce 4 ti4200. Would i see a huge difference in game??? I score a 2800-2900 on the benchmark how much of an improvement do you think i would see. I would really like an answer thx btw these are my system specs Pentium 4 1.4ghz 384 rdram 40gb hdd Geforce 3 ti200 overclocked. Windows 2000 Proffesional I think my system is pretty decent is rdram good? and i know my processor isnt great but i have to make due with what i have since i wont be upgrading motherboard and all that junk for another 6-8 months thx. |

Ok, the following links show the specs for all the majour ATI/NVIDIA cards...The only superior feature Ti4200 has is its Interface and Fillrate. All other specs for the Pro 9700 are higher. There is this other NVIDIA card (Quadro4 900 XGL) that has 2k resolution.....anyone know about this card? I am still convinced Pro is better than Ti4200, but if I actually knew what the Interface and Fillrate meant it would help me immensly in deciding. Please someone smart out there explain to me what these things mean. Ti4200 http://www.alienware.com/main/config...itemlist=10965 9700 Pro http://www.alienware.com/main/config...itemlist=11166 |

Lukin: ya. Gf4 ti has many differ from Gf3 Ti. becoz gf4 has faster GPU + ram's bus speed, which increase the performance.

By the way, here's the specs for the Quadro4x series, notice that it is the same engine as Ti, at least for the 900s. http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=quadro4xgl |

Interface: the 2x/4x/8x stuff is meaning the speed of the bus. higher ?x mean the bus speed transfer between video card and motherboard is faster and better. however, it is still need to depend on your motherboard which could support it or not(2x or 4x or 8x). for another, i'm not really sure what is it..... but for Quadro4x, it is not necessary for a gamer, becoz its purpose is for graphic design. and not really recommended to buy it for playing game |

The Quadro 4 is the workstation version of the GF4 Ti. I think it has much better OpenGL support and is inteneded to be used with CG stuff like Maya and Max. It's not a gamers card. FB |

Geforce 4 ti 4200 is a cheaper solution for the Ti series. It's not as powerful as the Geforce 4 ti 4600 which costs roughly around 200 and up. It's still the second best card and in FFXI no matter what card you get it'll always lag in the auction house or the beach. It's just lag and it slows down a bit because of the all the people in one huge area. The radeon 9000 isnt really a nice card, The Radeon 8500 is much better than the 9000 as well.

whoa who told you that? The Ti4600 is the strongest out of all the Geforce cards right now thats why it has a higher price tag. It's the only card that comes close to the 9700.
