The 4200 card that has 8x is the Ti 4280.

sorry boys... Ati doesnt do half as good as job as nVidia does in updating its drivers and yeah the game was built with nVidia in mind... like check the freakin box ;p oh yeah and that one poor sob running 300-something megs of ram.. like omg half a gig is MINIMUM for decent performance, get a gig, ram is c.h.e.a.p.

Aldo who told you the ti 4200 has better fill rate? those specs are wrong you put up. The ti 4600 has 4.8billion thats cose to 5 billion and the ti 4200 only has 4 billion. The interface the ti 4600 already has an updated version just like the ti 4200 with the ti 4280 with AGP 8x, the ti 4600 has the ti 4800 with AGP 8x. Who cares about interface 4x and 8x has no difference. Compare the speed from the ti 4600 to 4200 and the the 4200 doesent come close to it. It's just pretty obvious by looking at the price tag, a ti 4600 is still around 250-280 bucks and a ti 4200 is around 130. Theres a number difference too the 4600 and 4200(toned down version of the ti 4600) They made the ti 4200 more profitable for lesser gamers and the ti 4600 is for those hardcore gamers.

Yeah you got me with the updating thing, that is so true. I remember back when FFVII came out I had an ATI gfx card and i had problems and there weren't updates for some time. The specs I posted are from alienware.com and uh, I guess geforce is better, but i'm more concerned with having 1gig+ ram when i get a new pc, honestly, i consider 9700 and 4200 equals, but i rarely see 4600 when i go to customise a pc, hell if I did i would select it! IF anyone knows a good customisable PC site that HAS 4600 as an option, I'd appreciate a link. |

8x support was an advertising stunt, to make people buy the card thinking "cool, 8x is faster!". Well, not with this card. The Ti4200 does not have good enough specifications to make use of the 8x AGP interface. The Ti4200 is the only GeForce4 Ti card that supports 8x AGP.

Not the only one, like I said theres a new one out Geforce 4 ti 4800 which is the ti4600 supporting agp8x.

I have heard from many people that the Radeon series is really effective and great for gamers, but of course, most expensive

Actually Radeons are better more for the digital media like divx quality and tv-out's especially when the Radeon 8500 came out. I've always gone with nvidia for gaming.

The Ti 4800 doesn't exist. The only time I've heard about it is when some guy mentioned it on the old forums, his friend said he had one or something. If they did bring out an 8x Ti 4600 (won't happen) the name won't be changed. Some manufacturers (Albatron) might call it the Ti4680 for commercial purposes (people will buy it because it has a higher number than the rest). | |

Ted's right, and I don't know what wise guy came up w/ Ti4280, but they call it Ti4200 w/ 8x AGP, and I have NEVER seen any other card with higher than 8x AGP. Hopefully there will be a Ti4600 w/ 8x AGP in the future, but there isn't one right now. For now, I think its safe to say 128 mb 8x AGP Ti4200 is the best priced card out there for its features, and hell, if you can get an 8x now you probably can upgrade in the future for the newer cards..........although Radeon's 9700 is tempting cuz it has multiple AGP compatibility........

I doubt they'll ever make an 8x Ti 4600. The GeForce FX series is coming soon, so they'll be concentrating on that.
