Before you begin installing this software, you must have japanese fonts installed as well as be able to type in japanese.

First a disclaimer:
*~*~* I dont own any of the rights to any of these images. In *~*~*fact alot of them were taken from Ping's PSX setup when *~*~*they matched with PC setup. Please forgive me Ping ^_^;;;

Here is the beginning of the install process. When you insert disk 1 of Final Fantasy XI, the auto run should bring up this window.
Click on: Install PlayOnline Viewer : and follow the install instructions. Well, just keep clicking on either (N) or (Y).

After you are done installing the POV (Play Online Viewer) a small window will pop up to ask if you want to install Final Fantasy XI.
You can click Yes to move on to installing the Final Fantasy XI software. If you click No, you can install the Final Fantasy XI software from the Main Window.

Either one of these options will prompt you for the second disk. Insert disk 2 and click on OK. The install process for Final Fantasy XI will start and it will promp you for Disk 3 and Disk 4 untill it has finnished installing.

After this we have to set up our account with POL. Find the POL icon on your system. This will either be on your decktop or in your Start menu. Click on the POL icon that was installed onto your system.

At this point we will be setting up your account with POL (Play Online). It starts about step 18 in the PSX version. You can find the PSX version by following this link.

Follow Steps 18 - 25 on the PSX setup guide.
I am not putting them here because of both time constraints and the length of this guide.
On steps 26 - 36 you will need to be able to type in japanese hiragana. This is vital. The steps show what to type but you can copy from here as well:

The telephone number is for step 37. It can be something that matches the same combination of numbers. four numbers, dash, two numbers, dash, four numbers.

Clarification of Step 24:

It seems that many people are having trouble with step 24. To make things easier, I'll include what to do with step 24 here.

The point of step 24 is to register the software with your japanese name. Of course most of us importers arn't japanese and so dont have a japanese name. this is where your creativity as game players comes in. MAKE ONE UP! It can be almost anything as long as it sounds japanese. Look up japanese people online and mix and match names untill you come up with one you like. Now, on the very first spot to type anything in goes your last name, otherwise known as your family name, but it must be in KANJI~ No hiragana, katakana or romanji at all. NONE! On the second place, your first name. Again, in KANJI~
On the two places below that goes your last name again, but this time in KATAKANA, not Hiragana. and then your first name after that in KATAKANA. ~^_^~ Please remember what name you put and what KANJI you picked to represent these. You never know when that will come in handy. Gambare~!!~

Step 38 is just making sure that the information you provided was correct. Umm, Its as correct as its going to be. Click on next.

Steps 39 - 41 is asking for a valid CREDIT CARD. Since we arn't in japan, this is the only way to pay for the service.
Step 41 is just to ask if the information provided was valid.

Step 42 and 43 are the same screen. THIS IS VERY

Make sure to copy this information down in a safe place. If you
don't have this information it will be VERY DIFFICULT or IMPOSSIBLE to either connect to Play Online, re-register your account, much less cancel your subscription if you ever run into financial difficulty. Please copy the following information into a safe place:

You will need these to log into Play online.

Step 45 just allows you to be able to save your passwords on your system so you don't have to keep typing them in. This is a good idea, BUT DONT FORGET TO WRITE YOUR PASSWORDS DOWN IN A SAFE PLACE. Just in case. ^^

Ok, click on DONE and we will move on.

At this point you should either be taken directly to the load in screen, or you should be kicked back to the Main window. Either way, your install and setup of POV (Play Online Viewer) is complete. Well... almost.

Run the POV by double clicking on the icon.

You Should see the intro video with the kewl music. I like it since its very upbeat.

After the video, a screen saying "PRESS ANY KEY" should appear and a cute Chobi erm.... Chokobo should now be the pointer for your mouse. After you click on the screen you will see this screen.

This is your setup and general options screen for the POV (Play Online Viewer) Here you can add other users so they can access Play Online and other things, like change your user name. You should see NEW USER, I changed mine to AKINTUNDE. It doesnt mean anything, I just like the sound of it.

Click on the NEW USER in the box to get to the next screen:

If you have a user password then it will promt for it before you get here. The user password IS NOT your PlayOnline Password and it set up elsewhere. Where to set up your user password will not be covered in this guide at this time since I can't recall where I set it up. ^_^

Here you will click on login which is the first button on the top left of the screen: ƒ?ƒOƒCƒ“

This should force your POV to update to the lateset version as all software usually does.

After all the updating and loging in, we get here. This is the main POV itself. many options here are customizable, but I wont be getting into that since this is about getting us up and running.

From here it gets easier, since when we rollover the options an english translation can be seen in the center. Move over the GAME : ƒO?[ƒ€ option and click on it with the Chobi... erm Chokobo.

Commertial Interuption. ^_^ Acutally this is just saying, "Hey lets play some Tetra Master." Click on the button on the bottom to move on.

The Tetra Master commertial was step 28. This is where we start. Follow from step 28 through step 38 but be carefull since step 38 now looks like the image provided.

Im not sure what the info buttons say, but dont worry about them. Make sure you click on the Purchase content ID button.
